wbdent I started this thread for the planning of our even that we are going to hold in June of this year. It will be “Slipping into Summer 2”. Tink and I are planning on doing something different that has not been done at a cache event before and we need to get a head count on how many people are actually planning on coming to this event. This head count is imperative to what we are planning on doing. If we do not get a good head count then we will not be able to do what we are planning. I am sorry but I will not say what it is just yet. I will post more about this after we get a head count and do the research into what we are planning on doing. The initial head count will get us rolling. I think once we announce what we are planning on doing then the head count will increase. But we need this for a starter. So please if you know you are going to come and are going to make every effort to attend please let us know the head count for your family/group that will come with you.

Rick, if the good lord's willing and the creek don't rise, at least one G Team member will be there, probably two, possibly all three. Can't wait!

Right now I have most of the month of June open except for the 24th. You know I'll show if at all possible.

What is the day?

I will be on the Trek Across Maine again this year, but that won't stop me from comming. I may not have transportation this year, and that WILL stop me. The Trek is 16-18 June.

We have not set a date yet. We will probably pick the date sometime next month.

If it's any weekend except the first one (guard duty), I'm in.

...If it's nude caching, I'll try to get out of guard:p

Will make it with 2 if things don't go terribly bad. I'm scheduled to work on June 24th but think I may be ill that day (cough, cough). Looking forward to it as we missed last years slipping into summer event.

It's a little early to be absolutely sure, but I would really like to get all four of us up there this year, for the whole day, instead of just two for part of the day.

Attending is a good possibility because I am taking a leave of absence for the months of May and June! So I won't have to worry that it falls on my weekend to work.

The 3 of us would like to attend.
We do have a few questions:
1) Should we be scared? You're having us rsvp without any hints.
1a) Are we all nuts !!!
2) Is it an indoor or outdoor event?
3) If outside could four legged cachers attend?
If it is outdoors and if four legged cachers are allowed then 1 out of 3 of us would be naked
4) Should we be scared? ;)
If four legged cachers are not allowed then 2 of us will try to attend and neither one of us will be naked:D

1. No there is nothing to be scared or worry about. It is nothing like our Halloween event. We would just like a rough head count.
2. It is a outdoor event.
3. Yes you can bring you dogs as long as they are very well behaved.

This will also have the option for those wanting to spend the night to set up a tent on the property. We would like to get more people spending the night and then we could sit around the camp fire at night.

Can you nail down a date for this? Well, not like a "date," but you know...on what day will it be held... Gees! I know there's an event in CT on the first weekend in June, and an airshow in RI on the 24/25th...so anything in between would work for us!

The 10th or the 17th would be the two dates that I should have no problem attending. We will be in Portland on the 24th for Mike's birthday party at Hadlock field so that could be a tough one. We(myself and the geopups) would love to be there again this year.

We can't make any gaurentees until the last second. It will all depend on doctors orders and my mother's babyshower plans. So don't count us in yet.

wbdent We have decided on a date. The date of out “Slipping into Summer event cache 2006” will be held on June 17th. We will post it on the GC site within the next week or two. We did not really get as good of head count as we wanted. But we figured on about 100 people attending just in case. The reason we wanted a good head count is because we are going to have a pig roast at this event. We needed to call ahead and reserve the rotisserie and a pig. We did that today. We made that for the weekend of June 17th.

wbdent Everyone mark your calendars for the 2006 Slipping into Summer event cache and pig roast. We are really looking forward to this. We try to put a lot into our events because we really like the company of all of you. I have not met one geocacher that we do not like. You are all great people and we enjoy your company.

wbdent This event will be similar to last year’s event. The only exception is that we are hoping for better weather. This will be a rain or shine event. If anyone has any other ideas that they think would be a nice addition to the event please let us know.

I still want to see you get dressed up again and I don't want to have to wait until Haloween. ;) ;)

Since this will be a pig roast, how about the dressing as the Swedish Chef from The Muppets?

(Bork, Bork, Piggie, Piggie...)

That's a scary:eek:vision I'm having Bruce, but not at all unfunny.:p Rick whatever you decide will be great I'm sure. Put me to work if you'd like my help. The 17th will work for me I'm sure. I'll be staying in in tent as I did last year with the Geopups in tow. Talk to you soon.

Sheesh....We're still unsure if this will work for us. Its going to be a real busy summer for us with lot clearing and building a house and all. I'd love to say we'll be there but instead I'll say "we'll see" Sorry Rick but thats the best I can do at this point. We'll be lucky to make it to 200 caches this summer. Just not enough time in a day for all our different interests. So...we'll see ya there if we do make it and have a major good time if we don't make it. Hope there's a shutterbug there to record it all on film for us to see if we don't make it.

That sounds like a real great time. Connie and I will more than likely be able to come. So count us in. Dont worry about adding us to the pork consumption list as we will probably still be Veg Heads. I think that I will even plan on an over nighter and I will even envite Girlmate (ohhlalala) and Summer:D

This event has fond memories for me. Last year I met some cachers at a cache that I owned who were going to help me with my coordinates. That was at Savage Park at 8:30 am. Mainiac1957, Haffy, BeachComber, Dave1976 and Girlmate, and Noresta. I was still tagging along with this great bunch later in the day when we ended up at your event. As I was leaving, I bumped into this other guy who seems to be tagging along with me a lot in the last year. I'll be there with my tent!
