View Full Version : Ftf!
Hiram357 03-05-2006, 07:51 PM Okay Okay, I know it's not right to brag and all. But today is a momentous occasion... *sniff* I got a (my first) FTF on Laughing Terry's "In plain sight #2" Thank you, Thank... No, no, a standing ovation is not necessary. I would like to thank all the people that made this possible... like the ones that live closer to Skowhegan that I do and just weren't paying attention to the site at that time. and the cops that didn't pull me over, and to me for finding it. :D :D :D

Hiram357 03-05-2006, 08:03 PM I feel so special now! I feel like one of those big time cachers now! I already notified the associated press about it, but they haven't gotten back to me yet, they must be busy trying to make room for my headline or somethin :D
Sudonim 03-05-2006, 08:44 PM Look outside your window. CNN and Fox vans are pulling up as we speak...
The first FTF is really fun. Congrats!
Haffy 03-05-2006, 09:00 PM Way to go Hiram. You can thank me for that FTF too if you want. I was sitting here at my puter when the instant notification came up around 3 o'clock or so. I thought to myself do I want another FTF? I have over 50 now and I said to myself, naw ,maybe someone else will get that adrenalin rush when they open up the log and not see any other signatures there. Congrats to Hiram and sorry to Flowerlady who was so close and but still hasn't gotten one yet.:D :D :D

Congrats! It is fun to get the FTF. Hope you enjoy more along the way :)
WhereRWe? 03-06-2006, 08:21 AM Congrats to Hiram and sorry to Flowerlady who was so close and but still hasn't gotten one yet.:D :D :D
Flowerlady is aware of a cache that RULOST2? and I have been planning for a long time. We want to wait until spring is well sprung before we set it up, but we'll try and give her a "heads up" so she gets the FTF! LOL! ;) ;)

"Sniff"? What - did Terry put a beer in the cache for a FTF prize so you'd be able to follow your nose? LOL! :p :p :p
Congrats, anyway, Hiram. Remember, it's the numbers that count! ;) ;)

Mature Cacher????? Can anyone in this group be described as mature???? :D :D :D I know I do not even attempt to be that :)
firefighterjake 03-06-2006, 11:30 AM Congrats Hiram . . . I remember the first time I was FTF on a cache . . . a very rare event incidentally when you live so close to Haffy and TRF!
Incidentally, stay tuned . . . I should be releasing one or two caches in my area in the next week or so. Right now I'm waiting for the snow to dissipate some to make the search a little more challenging.
team teebow 03-06-2006, 12:08 PM Do I sense a Discovery Channel documentary somewhere here? No, No, I think that maybe it is a Knighting by the Queen.... Way to go Hiram.

No no! Not this week, you must mean next week. LOL
Trezurs*-R-*Fun 03-06-2006, 12:27 PM Congrats to Hiram on his FTF. Wish you many more but you'll earn them, especially in our area,,,;) . Hopefully see you on the trail,,,,,( just after I find the cache.)
Happy Caching!!!
Haffy 03-06-2006, 03:34 PM No no! Not this week, you must mean next week. LOL
Yes, Yes, this week Jake, Steve has to work this week.....:D :D :D

I actually was thinking of Steve as I was getting the coords for the first cache placement . . . thought that I should probably try to release two at once to give some other folks half a chance at getting one of the two FTF. :) I hold him in this high esteem even though it seems as though lately there are some folks south of us that are "encroaching" on your guy's "territory" when it comes to being FTF. :) I still have to get the coords and permission for my second soon-to-be released cache though.

I'm quitting work, thats all their is to that. Bring it on! Next week PLEEEEEEEEAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEE!!!!! LOL
Hiram357 03-06-2006, 08:18 PM I WOULD'VE HAD ANOTHER FTF IF IT WASN'T FOR THAT HAFFY!!   I must've been just minutes behind you Haffy! Did ya happen to see a white service truck with orange ladders? Darn this job! I'm gunna quit and just geocache all day!   :D
Billy Twigger 03-07-2006, 09:51 AM Well done!
Getting a FTF in the West of Scotland (or just about any part of Scotland for that matter) is almost impossible!
The last time I got one was back when there were only three of us caching!! There is real competition for FTFs here. Apparently you can set it up so you get an alert as soon as one is published.
About this time last year, I hid my Tarbert Code (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=8c176b3d-5f8b-4d1b-af2b-9120f05556bf&log=y) cache, and an infamous Scottish FTFer was already parked in the car park ready to go!!
So a First-to-Find is a real achievement!
LaughingTerry 03-09-2006, 04:21 PM Congrats on that FTF. Did you get your Official Suitable for framing FTF Certificate of Achievement yet? I was surprised people found that one as quick as they did considering the work I did on it to make it blend in.
Hiram357 03-09-2006, 08:42 PM No I haven't gotten the frame yet, but waterville mail is about 3-4 weeks behind the rest of the world :D

Hmmm . . . never considered adding orange ladders to my signature item collection. Maybe I should reconsider. :) We can call it the "Hiram Ladder."
firefighterjake 03-10-2006, 10:10 AM Hey Steve . . . I have some good news for you. One cache is ready to go, but due to the location I don't want tell-tale foot prints in the snow so I have opted to not release it today as I was planning on doing.
The other cache that I was hoping to release at the same time also needs a little more work . . . I'm gathering goodies and working on the hide . . . so it appears as though these two won't be out until next week or next weekend (I usually try to get them out for weekends since I figure it gives folks that work M-F more of a chance to get a FTF.)
I thought you might be happy to hear this news.
LaughingTerry 03-15-2006, 10:09 AM OK Hiram,
Saturday you will have a chance to get another FTF on another "Right in Plain Sight" Cache of mine. LOL Good Luck.

I can't do that, it would be unfair. I'm waiting for your "special" cache that requires wings... I think I would have about a 95% of being the FTF (and only one in a year) for that cache. :D

Count me in for the 5%....I know a little something about this one. Question is, can I stand on top of my SUV without smashing the sunroof? Only time will tell.

LOL
If I do what I want you could stand that SUV on end and still come up short.
Good Luck though.:D
Hiram357 03-16-2006, 06:36 PM you're going to hafta keep me updated on this cache so I can get the scissor lift for the day you're hiding the cache... :D
