View Full Version : What would you do for a Geocache????
LaughingTerry 04-11-2006, 12:23 AM OK, you already know I am a little bit nuts anyway but check out the log for the cache I did this morning. "Who pulled the plug? (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=d3b07c25-49f6-4fef-98a6-cc9ce802b873)" (GCHQGB)
Anyone else done something crazy to get to a cache?
GeoMaine 04-11-2006, 12:36 AM I bought a kayak on a whim specifically to get to a single cache I had just found in my GPS while driving past it, even though I already had a perfectly good kayak at home. Does that count?

Terry I don't think I could top that even in my wildest dreams. You truely ARE the man.
Cache'n Jacksons 04-11-2006, 06:58 AM LOL!! LaughingTerry, that has to take the cake for craziest thing I've read of someone doing to get a cache!! Thank goodness you didn't post any pics...
We've done a couple crazy caches, probably most notable was Bradley's Bottom (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=ee9a2a83-a38c-4b0c-bb43-22134231960b). The other crazy one is a log submitted for the Mt. Agamenticus Geocaching Event (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=61543b4b-45b4-4cbb-8daa-1ed236561246) so I won't disclose it here. But we've never crossed the line of public decency or potential humiliation!! :D
Smitty & Co. 04-11-2006, 07:17 AM Bet you looked like one big Goose Pimple  bobbing along the shore with a GPS in your mouth.
firefighterjake 04-11-2006, 08:50 AM That was great . . . thanks for sharing Terry . . . and thank you for not sharing too much.
By the way, do rubber chickens shrink in cold water? :D
Sudonim 04-11-2006, 02:25 PM This story reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George loses his swimsuit and blames his "small display" on the fact that the water was really cold:D :D :D
I can see the cops showing up. There you are, no clothes holding a rubber chicken. That would make the papers!
Thanks for the laugh today. It takes a brave man to post that adventure.
Hiram357 04-11-2006, 03:46 PM wow, that would be interesting... where's the rubber chicken.... well uhhhh.....
LaughingTerry 04-11-2006, 11:20 PM Todays adventure wasn't that extreme but I did have to climb 30ft up into an old pine tree for the cache. I have pictures of the cache up in the tree I'll post later when I can upload them.
All in all today was a good day. 12 for 12 and the last one was the one I DNFd on yesterday. I hope to hit 10 or 12 again tomorrow morning.
J_Cyr 04-11-2006, 11:27 PM That was a great story. Thats extreme for geocache, I would have gone back and got the kayak ;)
Hiram357 04-12-2006, 07:56 PM i hope that wasn't a public drinking water source...

It was Massachusettes anyway. LOL
Actually I didn't see any "No Swimming" signs or I wouldn't have done it.
WhereRWe? 04-13-2006, 06:58 AM It was Massachusettes anyway. LOL

Actually, if you drink Aquafina, it comes from a public water supply in Massachusetts! :( :(

Beach Comber 04-14-2006, 12:45 PM Todays adventure wasn't that extreme but I did have to climb 30ft up into an old pine tree for the cache.
And you were naked? Now THAT is dangerous!

Ummmm... were you naked up in the pine tree as well? Now that's extreme!
We wouldn't bat an eye at tree climbing, but the naked thing? You take the cake... the pie... heck, the whole dang bakery! Lol! :D
LaughingTerry 04-14-2006, 11:19 PM And you were naked? Now THAT is dangerous!
No, I didn't have to be naked to climb the tree. LOL I generally avoid getting naked outdoors but I really didn't want to leave a cache unfound in that park since I won't be back to this area for some time.
