I did bunch of caches today in the pouring rain as I'm sure a lot of you did.One good thing I notice today was that the rain was making all the waterfalls caches great.Usually by now they would be starting to dry up,not this year.I did four of them and they were all hammering.Moxie falls and Carry Place falls are as good as you will ever see them without hiking in the snow.So if anyone gets the chance now is the time to go see them. Hi. I was attempting to use the search option to find caches located near waterfalls. My sister is coming from Massachusetts this weekend and we were thinking visiting some waterfall would be nice, of course I wanted to show her Geocaching too so I thought combining them would be even better. Do you have any suggestions of a really nice waterfall perhaps one with a swimming hole for the kids, and that has caches located in the area near-by? I would appreciate any suggestions and help so I can make a route. Maybe we will hit 100 this weekend, thanks . -----craftycaching-----Ami

The Maine DeLorme map has a listing inside for waterfalls. It doesn't however list the caches. :( She will enjoy the waterfalls and the caches too. If there is one nearby.
Arethusa Falls in NH, over 200 feet tall. Is a great one!

Here are the 51 active Maine caches that mention "waterfall" somewhere in the cache description or logs. Obviously, there may be some missing and some of these may not even have a waterfall.

Perhaps you or someone else could use this for a starting point and create a bookmark list of maine waterfall caches. :)

Can that list of waterfalls be put on a map? That way we'd know where they are in association with our Delorme atlases.

I'd take Fallen Arch off the list of caches near waterfalls. I adopted that one, and it's near a trickle. To swim and cache, try Smalls Falls. Nice place and two caches there! :)

Like this?
If someone wants to take on the project of making a bookmark list of verified waterfall caches, it would be cool to have the list and a map available as an article on the site, and I would be glad to do the map part.

wow brdad thats awesome- well I was looking through the list you made and one of them had a bookmark list for Waterfalls, I am unsure if they are all in Maine, it was in the one labeled Waterfalls GCK7BK, now is there a way to save someone elses bookmark list or do you just note where it was and go back and look at it.

I was so excited, well still am, when I started Geocaching but also overwhelmed and still am with the technical aspect of it all. I have yet to figure out how to delete all my caches out of my GPS and upload all the new and I got it in January , so when theres changes I have been doing it manually. I had Haffy help me make a pocket query the first time and get them in, now I cannot get a pocket query, it e-mails me one cache!!! I am doing something so so wrong! LOL And thankfully Dave and Connie helped me understand the GPS more at the event I went to when I first started and put software in my GPS, but I would have no clue how to change it all around cause I was so anxious!! Someday I will get with someone who has a clue and learn this stuff!!

So wow, I wanted to mention that Waterfall list and here I went and babbled- thanks again.

Hey babble all you want, if you don't ask questions it's hard to get them answered right? I think if you let everyone know what you have for a GPS ,I'm sure someone out there has some answers for yah. I think we need to impliment some more tutorials to help others out. If you go to the GC site and do a search for whatever it is you are looking for I'm sure you will get the answer you are asking.

I think you can get a PQ of the list, but in order to make your own list you have to create that list and then add each cache individually. If you want to take on that project, I can provide instructions if you need help. The list you saw includes caches outside of Maine.

Well that is fine but it would be good for someone to verify the list, and perhaps even comment on as many of them as possible and describe the waterfalls. Obviously some are harder than others to do that to. They could also create and maintain that bookmark list. I could have made an article easily enough myself , but I'd like to see someone else take on the task.

I can take your name off the article if you want and put mine in. Also if someone else wants to take over the article I can change it to their name. If you want me to delete the article then I can do that to. Just let me know.

Well all I am getting at is the article is not a finished work and I don't want to take on the full task. I'd like to see someone take it over. In it's present state it is inaccurate.

Is there anyone out there that wants to take on the task? craftycaching? anyone? It's a good way to contribute to the site and make it a more informative place for all. I think it'd be neat if others joined in with other versions, like mountain caches, caches with longer hikes, hydro caches, caches within .5 miles of the Appalachian Trail, and the like. Again, articles are a relatively easy way to add to the site with minimal investment.
