I'm enjoying the pictures posted and to see where people guess. I too am enjoying the pictures….I hope to get to some of these caches… From what I’ve seen so far…of the pics posted in this forum it appears that there are a lot of quality caches in Maine that bring you to some great places w/o all the tourists. The picture with the red Adirondack chairs makes me want to sit in one of the chairs with a margarita on a warm August day.;) And the picture of the stone wall that Beckett posted.....that looks like it would be a fun one to do in the fall walking along that stone wall shuffling leaves Ahhhh…Maine……the way life should be Geocaching has made me so much more appreciate and aware of all the beauty things mother nature gives to us to enjoy even if just in pictures. The mountains, the lakes, the ocean.......its all good. Its all beautiful and its New England! We are so lucky! We will have to talk about some of the Vermont caches before we head over to your state. I have lots of places I would recommend going to in VT. I can't even think there are so many... VT is awesome too. Everytime I visit a new mountain or a new place I always say to myself "this is the most beautiful place I've been to yet..." I do. I say that everytime... I guess I can see beauty in just about everything..including the city and city skyline. (Ok..put the guns down now...;) ) No really ...even the city has its own charisma.. there is something out there for everybody. One of my favorite caches I did was W A Y over in Western VT. The view was awesome....when I think of it I'll post the link.... Foxgloves 03-03-2007, 02:41 PM It was Lake Vermont Lookout (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=858733c9-68bb-4fa0-b719-6bf736121627&log=y&decrypt=) (GCJ7G0) I visited it in April of 2004 This one is worth going to if you are near Lake Champlain. I revisited it in June w/ Rusty O junk. See his pictures pjpreb 03-03-2007, 07:36 PM Foxgloves: I want what you're having ;) :) Beach Comber 03-03-2007, 08:44 PM .... W A Y over in Western VT. I did make one error. My comment about it being placed by a fairly popular cacher that few people know, I was hinting that is was AA1YB. But I was wrong, it wasn't hidden by him. But it's his style. brdad 03-20-2007, 06:26 AM I just realized this cache has been archived for a year. So I looked further to see who had found it. The only people who have posted to the cache page and that have posted in this thread is me and Mainiac, and he only posted a SBA. Maybe someone should hide another there. So, that hardly seems fair. So I'll post another pic, and you can guess either. brdad 03-20-2007, 06:49 AM http://www.bytethebullet.com/geocaching/images/wherezit8.jpg Sabby 03-20-2007, 07:23 AM I recognize the city but have not done the cache. I am at a loss for words to describe it. Haffy 03-20-2007, 07:35 AM Gee, that looks a lot like this pic that I have so I'll have to pass on this one.....:D I wonder how long that seagull will be there? http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/haffy6/cacheplaces1276Medium.jpg Hiram357 03-20-2007, 07:38 AM Is that when the old bridge was still being used or was that recently when they were doing repairs on it? I know where it is but had no idea there was a cache there. d’76 03-20-2007, 07:39 AM Thats to funny. I have that same pic also.:D brdad 03-20-2007, 08:07 AM Ha! Too funny. You often hear of Bass Harbor light being the most photographed lighthouse or is it most painted? Anyway, I wonder what the location most photographed by geocachers is... I have a hard job photographing man made strcutures - I'm usually just not inspired. I guess it's something to do with the angle with this shot that makes it popular. I beleive in my pic, it was after the new bridge was opened. I see cars on it anyway... brdad 03-21-2007, 06:52 AM Fudds! You know this one! Guess Quick! tat 03-21-2007, 07:05 AM I'm on the road or I'd guess. See, Brdad, sometimes it is about the numbers!! FuddsGirls 03-21-2007, 09:02 AM OK, 18392 is the name and it GCR6KN. Almost doesn't seem fair though:o brdad 03-21-2007, 09:06 AM Not fair? Because you know the location and haven't found the cache? You'll get it. As Tom hinted, this cache is about the numbers! Your turn! FuddsGirls 03-21-2007, 09:14 AM Yeah. I knew where it was but Fudd insisted that it wouldn't be there. In talking to someone who found it, I was right. So my pic for today FuddsGirls 03-22-2007, 08:02 AM hint... its a multi Hiram357 03-22-2007, 04:21 PM hint... its a multi OHHH!!! I KNOW WHERE IT IS!!! That's that one multi cache that's by that river!!  FuddsGirls 03-22-2007, 05:47 PM I'm not good with hints. There's a whole mess of horseshoe crabs under the bridge. Hiram357 03-22-2007, 07:43 PM I'm not good with hints. There's a whole mess of horseshoe crabs under the bridge. that's not the one I was thinking of then... FuddsGirls 03-23-2007, 06:48 AM Jake, Haffy, Beachy, Brdad, & msteelee are among the finders, not Hiram. This is just after the first stage , maybe a 1/4 of the way but very rememberable brdad 03-23-2007, 07:30 AM Oh oh oh. It hurts! I know that place. Too bad I suffer from CRS. Ummmm brdad 03-23-2007, 07:38 AM Salt Marsh Multi (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=103924) (GCH8YA) by mainepod (http://www.geocaching.com/profile/default.asp?A=139500) (3/3)? But FFJ didn't do that from what I can tell.... Hmmmm Haffy 03-23-2007, 08:59 AM Hmmmm if I remember at Salt Marsh multi you don't have to cross the marsh to get to the cache so how come the girls and Fudd are? My guess was going to be Au Revoir by Intothewoods but that's not a multi. Now I'm really confused. FuddsGirls 03-23-2007, 08:15 PM OK, my mistake. Good thing I don't have as many finds as you all or I'd really get you confused. The cache pictures are AuRevoir by Into the Woods. Haffy wins. In Brdad's defense, I had the saltmarsh multi in my head when I gave that clue. I actually don't know at the moment if we even did the salt marsh now though or if it one we keep passing after a long day. Sorry. I am going to keep play though so tough:D Haffy 03-24-2007, 08:31 AM Holy Moly!!! I even stumped Fudd's....LOL... The last photo just looked too familiar. That's what makes taking photos so much fun, you tend to really remember where you have been as they are always in your camera frame. Let's try this one, it should be a really easy one. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/haffy6/cacheplaces319Medium.jpg FuddsGirls 03-24-2007, 08:51 AM That's Mt Agamenticus, at the summit. Haffy 03-24-2007, 11:39 AM Not even close. Sorry, try again. d’76 03-24-2007, 12:15 PM patties mt. Batty:confused: FuddsGirls 03-24-2007, 02:06 PM Ok, so I didn't really look at, it looks familar. Didn't Hiram post the same picture in the beginning of this sometime? Haffy 03-24-2007, 03:58 PM Nope not Patty's Mnt Batty tat 03-24-2007, 05:10 PM I thought it looked a lot like Gimme Shelter, but Haffy has not logged it. Haffy 03-24-2007, 05:32 PM You are right I didn't log Gimme Shelter but was up there before when the other cache was there. Quietbert had one called Bald Rock 2004 that has since been archived. This is a great hike with probably the best view of Penobscot Bay in Maine in my opinion. Your turn now Tom. tat 03-24-2007, 06:08 PM I see.... Well then, I need to post a quick easy one so here's one anyone can get even if you've never come close to finding it! http://www.geocachingmaine.org/gallery/data/500/medium/124_2430_Medium_.JPG Starzz 03-24-2007, 06:24 PM ohhh i know, i know (i think so anyway)!!! but i dont have any pictures to post, so i'll be quiet! :) Northwoods Explorer 03-24-2007, 07:51 PM Perhaps One for the Loafers by geomaineiacs (GCGZ6M) tat 03-24-2007, 08:12 PM We have a winner! Let's see some pics from the county!! Northwoods Explorer 03-24-2007, 09:24 PM This is a favorite of ours. :) Haffy 03-25-2007, 04:55 PM Having done my share of county caches this ones seems to have me stumped. Any other hints? Mainiac1957 03-25-2007, 05:13 PM just a neat picture I thought I'd share. http://images.kodakgallery.com/photos3308/1/41/1/41/89/4/489410141110_0_ALB.jpg Northwoods Explorer 03-25-2007, 06:06 PM Hint: Caving is great for this one, look at the photo closely. tat 03-25-2007, 06:34 PM I'm pretty sure I know, and I really, really want to do this cache! Hopefully sometime this summer. Mainiac1957 03-25-2007, 06:48 PM Your newest Earthcache Debsconeag Ice Caves? tat 03-25-2007, 07:34 PM I don't think so! :) Northwoods Explorer 03-26-2007, 06:28 AM Sorry this one is much easier to get to the location. It in lumber country where the cutting would say "see-de-big-cache" not "see-da-cave". Ithink you have the wrong kind of caving in mind, just think caveman with a big club.:D d’76 03-26-2007, 07:11 AM I havent been there but through a process of elimination I would say that it is the big cedar cache in Northern Maine. I cant remember the exact name of the cache but it is the biggest cedar either on the east coast or in maine I cant remember exactly. Northwoods Explorer 03-26-2007, 11:21 AM Correct, it is well worth a visit. There are about a dozen trees all about the same size in this one location. Haffy 03-26-2007, 03:15 PM So what is the cache name and number? That is what we are looking for. d’76 03-26-2007, 03:20 PM Big Cedar by caveman647 & 0din (2/3) GCYH2Q Haffy 03-26-2007, 03:34 PM Thanks Dave, so we are all waiting for your next photo. :D d’76 03-26-2007, 07:52 PM I havent done either of the caches at this location. I was there this weekend and decided not to do the hike. One is the start of a bad ass Multi and the other is back in the woods a bit. http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f158/dave19761/ToGCMwhereamI.jpg Haffy 03-28-2007, 05:12 PM Gee Dave no takers yet and I haven't got a clue. Dave and Gail 03-28-2007, 07:25 PM I know where this one is Dave,,,but seeing how Gail and I were with you guys when you took it, I'll sit back on this one for awhile.. By the way, I have the same photo, and we had an awesome day with you and Girlmate that day on Maine Maple Sunday. Who else can you hang with and do a 265 mile loop trip,,only get one cache for the day, and have so much fun?? We did visit 3 sugarshacks, and see eagles and about 75 deer. Awesome day,,,Thanks..."Dave and Gail" and Shamis. P.S. The one cache we got was one Dave had already logged,,,What a sport!!! d’76 03-28-2007, 07:44 PM Heres a hint. One of the caches at the location has not been found yet. Haffy 03-28-2007, 08:48 PM Well it must be a Little Slice of Heaven cache then with Attean in the background? d’76 03-29-2007, 03:18 AM Well it must be a Little Slice of Heaven cache then with Attean in the background? Maybe that was to good of a hint. Good Job Haffy:D :D Haffy 03-29-2007, 09:00 AM Ok here's one that should be easy to those who have been there, but remember, what is the cache near this spot? The truth is I can't remember what the cache name is myself...lol http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/haffy6/Cacheplaces1400Medium.jpg becket 03-29-2007, 09:25 AM born on the fourth of july gcgd6x Haffy 03-29-2007, 12:44 PM You got it Becket!!!!:D becket 03-29-2007, 01:37 PM here's another easy one http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q72/becke02/cachingphotos21.jpg Haffy 03-30-2007, 04:58 PM I don't see anybody else playing this so I'll just take a chance and make a guess even though I haven't been there yet. Is it Dow Ledges? becket 03-30-2007, 06:08 PM I don't see anybody else playing this so I'll just take a chance and make a guess even though I haven't been there yet. Well, I DID get stung by a bee at Monhegan Moonwalk, and didn't act very graceful after that, but I'll look again... Sudonim 03-30-2007, 10:14 PM Got it! Does that mean hes right?? :D Yeah he's right, im just wondering how, that looks like a million and a half other places in maine without any disntinct features, i was hoping to have one posted that wasnt guessed in less than one guess :( ;) tat 04-03-2007, 09:37 PM oop, double post tat 04-03-2007, 09:47 PM There two very important clues. One, there is snow on the ground. Two, there is water, either an esctuary or a river in the background. I just looked at your finds and it was the only likely candidate. I'll give a hint: I've been here many times, but only twice since there was a cache there. The second time I took my brother. When we got to the hotel to log the day's caches, I noticed I had forgot to make my online log. I still haven't been back to find out when I signed the log so I can get credit for the cache. http://www.geocachingmaine.org/gallery/data/501/medium/Fall.JPG Hiram357 04-03-2007, 09:48 PM Well, it was a guess. But, the snow was a give away. I assumed you had found it, so I looked at your finds, in the winter and this was the only likely candidate. darn you kids and your darn dog too!! :p FuddsGirls 04-04-2007, 08:03 AM OK Tat, so iys in the fall, on top of a mountain or hill...Hedgehog mountain? Notice all my guesses are Southern Maine? tat 04-04-2007, 08:58 AM It's north of Hedgehog Mountain. The coordinates are: (in alphabetical order) N°.0444689 W°.00246689 Hiram357 04-04-2007, 02:57 PM It's north of Hedgehog Mountain. N°. 8444960 W°.84966200 :D Whoa . . . that's pretty freaky . . . I was thinking the same thing and nearly posted a similar message about numerical order vs. alphabetical, but then I thought Tat would think I was being anal retentive or something like that . . . pretty scary though when I start to think like you. :D Hiram357 04-04-2007, 04:01 PM Whoa . . . that's pretty freaky . . . I was thinking the same thing and nearly posted a similar message about numerical order vs. alphabetical, but then I thought Tat would think I was being anal retentive or something like that . . . pretty scary though when I start to think like you. :D no worries, after reading your post I immediately ran to put on my foil hat, consider my brainwaves secure.... firefighterjake 04-04-2007, 04:11 PM no worries, after reading your post I immediately ran to put on my foil hat, consider my brainwaves secure.... That may be true, but why does the word "Guinness" keep popping into my head? ;) :D FuddsGirls 04-05-2007, 08:38 PM Ok so I thought it was some kind of puzzle type clue. Thanks Tat, I know this is supposed to be a give away hint but I'm getting nothing by putting in these numbers. One of you know so guess and get on with it please.:D tat 04-05-2007, 08:52 PM OK, alphabetical order, the name of the cache is: abdffklnopprsu tat 04-06-2007, 06:08 AM Ok, here's another clue: Airline I'm going skiing today, so if you think you're right, just go ahead and post a new pic. TAT it is not the park, but I did notice your tracks by surprise very closes to this 2005 cache that is the highest in the area last years in Jan. Great view from this elevation in both the summer and winter. Very winter friendly cache but has had issues with bears in the past, if I remember correctly they have found it three time and destroyed it twice.:) Can't imagine someone can't find it with a little research since it is on its third logbook and at various times has had many watches placed on it. Haffy 04-12-2007, 08:30 AM The photo certainly isn't much help. That's why I started this thread was to give others from around the state a chance to see other parts of it that they normally wouldn't get to see. A picture of the woods with a vernal pool could certainly be any place in Maine. Research wasn't the main goal of this thread. Haffy 04-12-2007, 08:51 AM OK after some research I have come to the conclusion that it might be Pond on the Mountain at the Heritage center? tat 04-12-2007, 10:42 AM I'm sure it's at the Heritage center, and Haffy, you just might be right! Northwoods Explorer 04-12-2007, 02:23 PM Pond of the Mountian it is indeed.
