View Full Version : Where is This?
Ekidokai 12-12-2008, 08:57 AM So where is the picture?
Lets see this Cody.
If you go to the galleries on the cache pages many of them have photos posted. One thing I enjoy doing when I remember my camera - to take and post photos so others might be enticed to visit the cache.
When I did Gravity Outlaw I had my little caching friend Cody with me. She posed as if she was holding up the rock. Her grandparents got a big kick out if it.
There are many cachers who take beautiful photos. Just open the galleries on the cache pages to enjoy them.
hollora 12-12-2008, 09:23 AM So where is the picture?
Lets see this Cody.
Go to the Gravity Outlaw cache - GC9488. Click on the Gallery of pictures - right above where you read the cache logs. First photo - top left..dated 5/3/2008. Double click on that small thumbnail and it will open a larger view.
After looking at it again today, I remember it was early May but still quite cool. Codi and I did quite a few caches that day and had a good time.
ALICIA21 01-20-2009, 05:49 AM As those of you who know me,I always have enjoyed taking photos of most of the places I have cached and I know lot of you also like to do the same. I would like to suggest a fun way to share in those places and maybe even make it a regular part of this website if it garners enough interest. I am suggesting a thread where a photo is posted in an area where there is a cache located and the first individual to guess where the photo was taken and maybe the cache ID # will get to post their own photo and so on and so on. This I think would be a lot of fun and it will also be a way to show others some of the great places that we have in the the state where there are caches located. I would like to start off with the following photo and the first person to guess where it is and the cache ID # and name of the cache will then get to post their own photo. If you have been here this one will be easy.

great tips. I enjoyed reading this
Ekidokai 07-18-2009, 01:33 AM OK, lets see if anyone gets this.

pm28570 07-18-2009, 06:01 AM Recognized right off.......It's between a rock and a hard place.
OK, lets see if anyone gets this.

Ekidokai 07-18-2009, 01:59 PM That's not right.
Ekidokai 07-18-2009, 02:05 PM Look closer or maybe not so close. Most probably have not seen this at this distance. I think many have seen it easy enough.
WhereRWe? 07-18-2009, 04:56 PM Sheesh! This gave me a great idea for a cache! LOL! ;);)
pm28570 07-18-2009, 09:15 PM Feeble attempt at humor....
That's not right.
brdad 07-18-2009, 10:24 PM Sheesh! This gave me a great idea for a cache! LOL! ;);)
Me too! Hide it under rock! Who'da thunk there was other places besides light poles? :D
That rock doesn't look familiar to me. Still thinking...
Ekidokai 07-18-2009, 10:57 PM I thought this might be tuff so here is another view. Like I said before I am sure many have seen this if being observant at all, just not this close or this angle.

hide_from_the_kids 08-10-2009, 01:12 PM maybe a hint?
pm28570 08-10-2009, 01:31 PM Maybe 5 or so hints? :D
maybe a hint?
hide_from_the_kids 08-10-2009, 03:02 PM How about Blueberry barren or glaciomarine delta?
Ekidokai 08-11-2009, 12:12 AM Nope Hide.
This is not really close to a cache but not far either. I spotted this and just had to take a closer look. While your driving by you would have to have been paying attention to the scenery to spot it. This one can be claimed by two different caches.
Here is another picture.

Ekidokai 08-11-2009, 12:15 AM Here is another picture and this will be the last.

Sudonim 08-11-2009, 08:02 AM I saw two rocks that looked like this on the SMR, but I have no idea which cache they were near!
attroll 08-11-2009, 08:41 AM Hmm, I have seen two rocks like that on the Golden Road and also on Moxie Pond road area.
Ekidokai 08-11-2009, 09:56 AM Is this on the SMR?

Another clue... Cano hates these critters.
dubord207 08-11-2009, 10:33 AM Between a rock and a hard spot cache?
Ekidokai 08-11-2009, 10:48 AM Between a rock and a hard spot cache?
Your getting a little colder.
Clues...
Just off the SMR.
Cano Hates these critters.
Can be claimed by two caches.
Obviously near the power line.
Ekidokai 10-13-2009, 05:58 PM OK out on the Stud Mill Rd across from Dave and Gail cache & Clifford Lake Cache.
Ekidokai 10-13-2009, 06:07 PM Lets try another.

Good picture, huh?

I don't hate critters :)
Ekidokai 10-13-2009, 06:45 PM I don't hate critters :)
You said you hate snakes in a post about Dyslexia's Night mare cache. If you look at my posts to the Clifford lake cache I had pictures of snakes.
You said you hate snakes in a post about Dyslexia's Night mare cache. If you look at my posts to the Clifford lake cache I had pictures of snakes.
No, It wasn't me. I like snakes (the friendly ones) :)
Ekidokai 10-13-2009, 11:18 PM So, where is the picture from? It's an interesting cache.
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/ekidokai/Picture006.jpg
Waterski 10-14-2009, 08:41 AM I don't know ..but interested to find out.
Ekidokai 10-14-2009, 10:04 AM Oh come on people, doesn't anyone take in the sights near caches. This is a lot closer than the last.
Use your noggin'
Ekidokai 10-25-2009, 03:32 AM No one yet.
OK here is a hint. On the coast.
I know we have the longest coast in the US, but at least you know it's not an inland cache.
Also these are about 200 feet from the cache.
Ekidokai 10-31-2009, 04:13 PM So, where is the picture from? It's an interesting cache.
http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m133/ekidokai/Picture006.jpg
How about Museum.
Waterski 10-31-2009, 04:19 PM I've got it! The Cats sitting on a post Museum. Parts unknown.
Mainiac1957 10-31-2009, 06:17 PM I've got it! The Cats sitting on a post Museum. Parts unknown.
Funny, very funny
Ekidokai 10-31-2009, 10:29 PM Almost, just not yet.
Waterski 11-03-2009, 09:24 PM How about some more clues so we can get to another picture? This one is going no where fast. I went thru all your old finds to get a clue, but must have missed something. ha
ltlindian 11-03-2009, 09:47 PM botanical gardens in boothbay?
Ekidokai 11-04-2009, 01:14 AM Not even close.
How about big bone and ramp.
Ekidokai 11-04-2009, 10:23 AM Finally you got it.
ltlindian 11-04-2009, 11:16 AM Oh, at College of the Atlantic? Must be near the whale head.
hollora 11-04-2009, 12:54 PM Who is going to post next?
hollora 11-04-2009, 12:56 PM That's at COA beside one of the small parking areas and near some of their gardens. Geeshhh, we were parked right beside them this year when we went to the Maine Basketmakers Alliance Festival. They are made of cement not wood, I think.
I think Itlindian should go next since I had no idea! If I'd been more specific with my answer, my guess would have been miles away!
hollora 11-04-2009, 01:31 PM I think Itlindian should go next since I had no idea! If I'd been more specific with my answer, my guess would have been miles away!
LOL - sounds good.......step on up ltlindian!
Haffy 11-04-2009, 03:48 PM Thought this was Ekidokia's photo,so it should be up to him to decide who goes next. Not that it makes any difference. It is good that this thread has been revived after all this time.
ltlindian 11-04-2009, 04:37 PM Ok--I've already done my best photo at a cache but here's another. I'll probably have to give a clue since I'm not sure how much the picture can narrow it down for you.
hide_from_the_kids 11-04-2009, 05:44 PM Is it in Belgrade Lakes?
dubord207 11-04-2009, 06:26 PM Looks like Roundtop to me!
dubord207 11-04-2009, 06:31 PM Top of the Valley, by dogbreath?;)
hollora 11-04-2009, 10:13 PM No matter where it is - that is a precious picture!
Waterski 11-04-2009, 10:25 PM I don't think I have ever done that one, but that picture is just wonderful.
ltlindian 11-05-2009, 11:35 AM Wow! Way to go Dubord. I would never have thought anyone would get that from just that photo. Top of the Valley by dogbreath, just outside of Jackman. Nice work. (Although it probably would have been easy to look at my logs this fall and find it that way. I haven't cached much and the finds are few...)
It is a super cute pic huh? If you have done that hike you would be impressed with these kids who did it without complaint. The littliest blond one did most of it in bare feet and he insisted on wearing boots 4 sizes too big for him (as some 3 year olds will do!) and then decided that it was just easier to go without shoes at all.
dubord207 11-05-2009, 02:29 PM Now if I had the know-how to download a picture here I could keep things going but alas I lack that skill!:(
brdad 11-05-2009, 03:23 PM Now if I had the know-how to download a picture here I could keep things going but alas I lack that skill!:(
Click the Post Reply button right under this post.
Type you text in the text box as usual.
Scroll down until you see the button named Manage Attachments and click that.
On that window click the Browse button and then locate the file you want to upload. Then click the Upload button.
Close the Attachment window and then click the Submit Reply Button.
If I didn't forget anything that should work!
squirrelcache 11-05-2009, 03:28 PM Dan...write your message at the bottom of the page...click the yellow button in the header bar w/the mountain and moon that has a pop up which says <insert image>...browse to where your pic is and upload it. Hope that helps.....I couldn't find your number, or would call to walk you through it.
brdad 11-05-2009, 03:53 PM Dan...write your message at the bottom of the page...click the yellow button in the header bar w/the mountain and moon that has a pop up which says <insert image>...browse to where your pic is and upload it. Hope that helps.....I couldn't find your number, or would call to walk you through it.
That works great for images that are already online, like on a web page or in the photo gallery here. I'm assuming he is trying to display a picture he has on his computer that needs to be uploaded.
But if I am wrong, by all means use this method, it's much easier!
Ekidokai 11-05-2009, 04:07 PM Don't put hard ones up.
Oh look...luckey post 1313
EMSDanel 11-27-2009, 07:10 PM This one is probably easy for many.....
EMSDanel 11-27-2009, 07:14 PM Probably an easy one for many....
shuman road searchers 11-27-2009, 07:50 PM Blue hill view?
hollora 11-27-2009, 08:14 PM pine hill preserve II (GC1C6E7) by becket. I knew I have been there. Did the original pine hill preserve cache and need to go back to get II.
If I am correct, this is a nicely done cache by becket and she worked to keep this one going. Interesting view in this photo and there is a great view of the bar too.
EMSDanel 11-27-2009, 09:44 PM Right on.....now maybe I can pan right and include that pic of the bar
hollora 11-27-2009, 10:02 PM Right on.....now maybe I can pan right and include that pic of the bar
Dan - send me the photo and I will help you. Almost grabbed one which included the bar, on line but Charron might not have appreciated being front and center.
Ok - here is my photo..........and it was one of my very memorial caches on the way to finishing the DeLorme Maine Challenge. A day I would love to do again, a ton of fun with two friends............ A not to be missed location for a cache. http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/fb53d83a-8845-4215-9b5b-564e38fe06e2.jpg

Waterski 11-27-2009, 11:23 PM Here is that pannig view to the right of the barr that you spoke of......
Waterski 11-27-2009, 11:27 PM Dan, yours is probably a bit better as this one is really light. Deer Isle is our 2nd home and I love this place. Becket has some great caches down on the island.
hollora 11-28-2009, 10:56 AM Waterski you are right about the photo I posted. A beautiful island and great caching day to remember.
Your turn - Step right up!
Haffy 11-28-2009, 11:05 AM A most memorable day on Monhegan with this caching crew.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/haffy6/MonheganTrip2006062Medium.jpg
Waterski 11-28-2009, 02:39 PM Nice pic Haffy. I will work on getting another where is this pic posted.
fins2right 11-28-2009, 04:52 PM Ahh Monhegan. One of my favorite spots in the world. My wife and I went there for our anniversary in 1997 and we've gone back 4 or 5 times. I'm going to try and get the whole family together there next summer.
Haffy 11-28-2009, 05:05 PM Nice pic Haffy. I will work on getting another where is this pic posted.
I use Photobucket to use the IMG code to post all my photos on here. All other photos are in my gallery on this site.
hollora 11-28-2009, 07:31 PM If it's a photo you posted on gc.com you can use their link too.
Waterski 11-28-2009, 10:33 PM This one should not be too hard.
Haffy 12-01-2009, 01:02 PM Ok someone must have an idea where this is? I miss the activity of this thread.
ltlindian 12-01-2009, 04:17 PM Looks like Boothbay Harbor. But pretty much all harbor pics can look like BBH! lol
Waterski 12-01-2009, 07:04 PM Let me know if you would like a clue. Its not Boothbay however. It is not the most impressive view at the cache site either. I can add another pic when you are ready.
Waterski 12-03-2009, 11:37 PM Since I don't want this thread to get stagnant, here is another view from the same cache site. Any lightbulbs going off on this view? :)
JustPJ66 12-04-2009, 05:23 AM wow i dont know where it is but sure would like to go to this cache one day tho. beautiful pics!
dubord207 12-04-2009, 06:09 AM Looks like Marshall Point Lighthouse to me. I'm heading down that way right now to hunt sea ducks. If I'm right, somebody will have to post as I still haven't taken the time to learn how to transfer pictures to this site.
Haffy 12-04-2009, 10:39 AM Nope it's not Marshall Pt Light.
hollora 12-04-2009, 10:56 AM Since I don't want this thread to get stagnant, here is another view from the same cache site. Any lightbulbs going off on this view? :)
That is a pretty picture.
hollora 12-04-2009, 11:00 AM Pumpkin Island Light - Maine Rose Series?
Haffy 12-04-2009, 11:04 AM By cracky I think you got it Lois...lol. I've never seen that one and it surely was a great photo by Waterski too.
Too bad it isn't open to the public and privately owned now.
pjpreb 12-04-2009, 02:09 PM Since I don't want this thread to get stagnant, here is another view from the same cache site. Any lightbulbs going off on this view? :)
What a beautiful photo! Thank you so much for sharing it!
Waterski 12-04-2009, 02:18 PM Yes! You are right that it is Pumpkin Island. The first pic is the view looking to the right. Dubord even commented on the cache log about that property when he logged in, so I thought for sure he would be right on top of that one from the get go. It must have just got muddled in between the other thousand. Good job Hollara!
Waterski 12-04-2009, 02:30 PM This is the way I post attachments on here, for anyone interested. It may work for you as well. After clicking reply and adding your note, schroll down below the submit reply area on the page, under the post smilies, until you see the 2nd submit reply at the bottom of the page. Just click on the manage attachments. When that page comes up you can click on browse, and go right to the pictures you have loaded on your computer. Find the one you want and click it. Go right back to browse page and click upload. When a minute and it will upload and it will show the file name as well on top of manage attachements area (in small print), so that you know it is there. Go down to the very bottom of the page to click submit and your picture will come up with your reply. ( I don't know if you click under the smilies whether it will or not, I always go down to the bottom under the attachments, to submit the reply)
Hope this helps someone. Hope I also did not leave anything out.
hollora 12-04-2009, 02:41 PM Nice views waterski and thank you for the tutorial. I will search my photos for a deserving entry.
hollora 12-04-2009, 02:49 PM Here is one - I hope it has not been sent before -
Mainiac1957 12-04-2009, 05:22 PM It's dat big rock in da woods in Maine der!!! You know that one I'm talking about eh?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

hollora 12-04-2009, 06:11 PM Well, yes it has - it is Gravity Outlaw - a virtual............so let me find another..........thank you TAT.
hollora 12-04-2009, 06:16 PM Wow - we need a list of all the caches which have been represented with photos...........so I am going to try this one (which is disabled right now) and bonus pointed if you can tell me what this was used for...........
Sudonim 12-04-2009, 07:51 PM Looks like an animal pound (like the one in Orrington), but no idea where...
Mainiac1957 12-04-2009, 08:31 PM No clue where it was however. I don't play this anyway, so someone else can claim.
hollora 12-04-2009, 08:45 PM Looks like an animal pound (like the one in Orrington), but no idea where...
Yes, you are right about the historic piece of the photo.......it is an animal pound. One where they penned up stray cattle and other farm animals. Not Orrington as ours was stone - but the question is where?
And Mainiac1957 you should remember - as you were there..........I even think I have a photo to prove it. LOL But, you aren't playing, oh, that's right....................
dubord207 12-04-2009, 08:52 PM Is that the one in Jefferson?
hollora 12-04-2009, 08:55 PM Is that the one in Jefferson?
ah no, now think - if mainiac1957 was there, I was there............... (oh yeah, we do go all over.....Lewiston, Yarmouth..........ah - but think........). One more hit - there were a bunch of us together....and it wasn't this year.
Haffy 12-04-2009, 09:03 PM Maybe this one GC17QZ5 Charlotte Pound cache?
Mainiac1957 12-04-2009, 09:22 PM You're the winner!!
Haffy 12-04-2009, 09:25 PM You're the winner!!
Just took a little research and I knew you were there with Dave1976 and company.Plus I know you don't play this game but I was the OP of this thread so I like to see it continue.
Haffy 12-04-2009, 09:33 PM Ok this should be any easy one for those coastal addicts.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a125/haffy6/Cacheplaces1393Medium.jpg
Waterski 12-04-2009, 09:44 PM Marshall Point Lighthouse. No question about it!
Haffy 12-04-2009, 09:44 PM HUH???? LOL You're funny TAT!!!
Haffy 12-04-2009, 09:46 PM Marshall Point Lighthouse. No question about it!
You got it Waterski, I knew it wasn't that hard for you coastal folks... Your turn now!!!
Waterski 12-04-2009, 09:49 PM That was a great shot of Marshall Point Haffy. We just took a big group from Wisconsin there this summer and they loved the place. They have a good museum on site as well, huh?
Waterski 12-05-2009, 12:52 AM Where is it?:D
Mainiac1957 12-05-2009, 06:18 AM I did that one on 9/24/2005.

Sudonim 12-05-2009, 11:57 AM I love that cache. Cool stained glass, nice overall concept.
Waterski 12-05-2009, 09:07 PM Tat , you know your loos. Post another for us!:D I loved that cache. It gave us a real smilie and was well done.
pjpreb 12-05-2009, 09:49 PM What a laugh that cache was!!! :)

This should be pretty easy.
http://www.geocachingmaine.org/gallery/data/500/maine.jpg
Waterski 12-06-2009, 08:44 PM Are you standing at the cache site looking at the mountain,( I assume), or is the cache on the mountain?
The cache is on top of the mountain. In fact, there is more than one cache up there. I'm sure everyone has seen this mountain, but perhaps not from this angle.
hollora 12-06-2009, 09:57 PM Any possibility that is Sugarloaf from the back side?
JustKev 12-06-2009, 10:01 PM hollora, I don't think that's Sugarloaf. You can see the towers on top of Sugarloaf from behind it. I hunt that area every October and November and have some awesome pics of Sugarloaf from the base of the mountain on the backside.
number seven 12-07-2009, 02:29 AM Looks like Katahdin to me--
Number seven wins!!
The photo was taken from Katahdin lake.
hollora 12-07-2009, 05:43 PM Ah, I was just stabbing in the dark. I know Sugarloaf from the front (years ago). A mountain is a mountain but no 2 are created equal! LOL;)
number seven 12-08-2009, 12:04 AM Standing at the cache sight looking north.
Haffy 12-08-2009, 11:06 AM Looking at north at what?
number seven 12-08-2009, 02:47 PM :DHa ha ha-woops:D kind of missed something didn't I like a picture.:o

Ekidokai 06-06-2010, 11:14 PM OK, I'll try and get this going again. Have to try and settle my mind and stomach after that horrible thread.

Ekidokai 06-14-2010, 11:36 AM Ta da. I actually turned around as I went by it again to take the picture. This is so cool and strangely I have been thinking about those big wheeled bikes lately.
Haffy, I know I've done it before, but how did you do that?
Haffy 06-16-2010, 04:54 PM Use the IMG url instead.
brdad 06-16-2010, 05:25 PM When people start asking haffy for technical help, things are looking pretty grim!
Sorry John, had to say it! :p:p

brdad 08-28-2011, 11:34 AM You got me stumped.
Ekidokai 08-29-2011, 02:53 AM Ok here is a better picture.
Ekidokai 08-29-2011, 02:55 AM Another clue is it is in Bangor.

brdad 08-29-2011, 12:54 PM Is it on Broadway?
firefighterjake 08-29-2011, 03:39 PM Maybe near Job Corps on Union Street?
Ekidokai 08-30-2011, 11:26 AM is it near bomarc industrial park?
No, I have never seen anything like that in that area.
Is it on Broadway?
No, not on Broadway.
Maybe near Job Corps on Union Street?
They do have some interesting stuff there but no.
I am so surprised no one has seen this.
Mainiac1957 08-30-2011, 06:19 PM How about Freedom Park in Hermon....
Ekidokai 08-30-2011, 06:26 PM How about Freedom Park in Hermon....
Have not been there. So that is a no. Especially since I said it is in Bangor.
Ekidokai 08-30-2011, 06:30 PM OK, one more hint.
Within three miles of my residence.
Mainiac1957 08-30-2011, 06:37 PM Well I knew I'd seen it out there somewhere. Just can't remember where.
Ekidokai 08-30-2011, 06:42 PM Well I knew I'd seen it out there somewhere. Just can't remember where.
Finally someone has seen it.
Tomorrow another hint or two.
Waterski 08-30-2011, 06:55 PM That last hint is only a hint if we know where you live~~~~~~~

The people that matter know where I am.
Mainiac1957 08-31-2011, 06:01 AM The people that matter know where I am.

brdad 08-31-2011, 06:07 AM And I matter to Mike! How.... How ...... Ackkkkkkkkkkk!
Waterski 08-31-2011, 08:16 AM Thanks Mainiac. Mike's MEAN :-( Good think I am a rough tough waterskiier or I could be offended by that last remark. :-)
Waterski 08-31-2011, 08:30 AM Answer to question: 108 Florida Ave. Bangor That is where the metal man lives. :-) NOT where Mike lives.

No that's not it.
Answer to question: 108 Florida Ave. Bangor That is where the metal man lives. :-) NOT where Mike lives.
That is correct! Ding, ding, ding. Now I have to ask how did you come up with that? Not far from

Good Answer!
Waterski 08-31-2011, 02:15 PM Seriously though,
Metalman appeared to me in a dream last night. He said " Don't take this lying down..." Get up and bring your headlamp and your bike to Bangor and ride all the roads within 3 miles of Mike's house and I will appear. A really really nice guy. Go see him everyone.

So now the whole point of this original topic that I started is to post a photo of yours now and get others to try and guess where it is located. Thanks for reviving the topic.

Yes Haffy, this is a couple of times I've revived this. I really enjoy this idea of yours, especially when I can figure out where these pictures are from.
Waterski, according to the tradition, it is now your turn.
Waterski 09-01-2011, 01:25 PM Here is the next picture. I am trying once to post as the attachment is downloading but does not appear to be attaching....
Ekidokai 09-01-2011, 01:35 PM That is strange. Something has gone wrong with the system. I just tried to upload a picture and it seems to work until the very end of uploading it just sits there and does nothing. Worked find a couple of days ago.
What did you change brdad?
brdad 09-01-2011, 01:45 PM Testing photo upload. Where is this? Hint: It's the last cache I didn't find. :p
brdad 09-01-2011, 01:53 PM They should upload as long as the file size does not exceed the limits, which are pretty high for a jpg....
bmp 20 KB .......... 800X600
gif 200 KB .......... 800X800
jpeg 6 MB .......... 800SX600
jpg 8 MB .......... None
png 20 KB .......... 620X280
Ekidokai 09-01-2011, 01:57 PM Nope still not working.
Tried insert image. Selected file. Hit upload. Got to the end of uploading and sat there doing nothing for two minutes.
Tried manage attachments and did the same thing.
It is 2.9 MB
Haffy 09-01-2011, 03:47 PM Nope still not working.

Ok I just loaded this into my photobucket account and copied the img code and this is what you get. Oh by the way this is myself and Loch Cache from Massachusetts, maybe some of you have met but he came down and joined us for a day on Lake Lanier recently and we did a bunch of caches on the lake including Georgia's oldest cache GC20

Try a smaller file just for fun, 2.9 MB is a pretty big jpg file - are you sure it's not a bmp file?
Ekidokai 09-01-2011, 05:15 PM Trying again, but 2.9MB is well under your posted limits...1040 38.7 KB
OK trying another one...1041 31.2 KB
I guess it was too big. Should be a note on those when they wont work.
Waterski 09-01-2011, 06:01 PM My photo was 1.8 and the exact things happened to me as EK...
brdad 09-01-2011, 06:44 PM What about physical size? Was it bigger than 800 X 600?
Waterski 09-01-2011, 09:48 PM 1046OK- this one worked. Real easy folks.
Waterski 09-02-2011, 07:19 AM Sorry...of course its easy for me, because I took the pic!!
Waterski 09-02-2011, 12:35 PM Looks like and IS Owls Head lighthouse. There is a cache on the beach to the right of the pic.
Your turn TAT!!
This might be very hard. The first clue is: that's salt water.
http://www.geocachingmaine.org/gallery/data/502/thumbs/CIMG1317.JPG (http://www.geocachingmaine.org/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/3020/title/cimg1317/cat/502)
Ok, this is toooo hard! :(
The cache is on an island in the Kennebec. The picture is just a bit north.
Sabby 09-04-2011, 05:33 PM Is the picture north or south of rt 197?
There is another one south of rt 197 and it's actually closer to the cache!
Sabby 09-05-2011, 07:27 PM I am sure I know but will not tell.
Sabby 09-06-2011, 11:44 AM I was not going to tell but now that I have found a picture that I can use I have decided that I will tell.
I believe that this is a photo of an ice breaker used to protect the route 197 bridge. The photo was taken from under the bridge at water level, and there is another on the south side.
Here is another view fron above.
1048
That is the spot! The cache I was thinking of is Swango GC1TKGQ. The structure is not an ice breaker, but part of the old swing bridge. http://www.kjonline.com/news/a-bridge-to-the-past_2011-07-15.html
Sabby 09-06-2011, 12:42 PM Ok. I guess it is my turn.
There are a lot of churches in Maine that are used as benchmarks. Here is a picture of one of them. Please name it and "Where is it?"
1049
it's First Parish Congregational
and it's here 43.680871, -70.443572

Sabby 09-06-2011, 02:31 PM Yes that is it and a nearby cache is Red Card GC1PEV6.
Too Easy.
Next time I will pay more attention to detail and leave out signs with town names and streets.
Live and learn.

Is that Pilot's grill?
I don't know, I guess this doesn't have any name, just post the coordinates.
EMSDanel 09-11-2011, 02:48 PM Is that on Route 3 on the way to Bar Harbor from Ellsworth, just north of the Trenton bridge?
Is that on Route 3 on the way to Bar Harbor from Ellsworth, just north of the Trenton bridge?
Yes, and if you want exact coordinates, you can look in EXIF :P
brdad 09-12-2011, 06:39 AM I recognized the place, but didn't remember exactly where on Rt. 3 it was until EmsDanel mentioned it. It used to be a restaurant.

LOL
Oops, I meant to edit "a restaurant" with the name of it after I asked lee (I knew she knew the name)
It used to be the Brass Lantern Restaurant
Ekidokai 09-12-2011, 07:52 PM You are forgiven. We know how the mind goes after your advanced age.
Waterski 02-08-2012, 01:52 AM Looks like brdad. I tried to upload one for the last half hour but am not having any luck....

That might be due to the file size/image size being too large.
I'm not sure as it's my turn, but in the interest of stirring up some action, here is one...
http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=1074&d=1328701979
Ekidokai 02-08-2012, 03:30 PM The area looks familiar but the tree doesn't.
Sabby 02-08-2012, 05:25 PM I have found this one but do not have a picture to post so I won't name it.
When I was there I posted this log
I came back to Maine for the Cure Breast Cancer for ME luncheon and was up visiting the grandchildren too. We had a great time doing several caches in the area. I had been here last Feburary but the snow was too deep then. The entire family liked this one. It is a very interesting place. TNLN Thanks.
There is a lot of mystery about this location and questions I have about it and its care.
Waterski 02-08-2012, 08:23 PM This is the place with all the beads on the fence. :D I would have to look up the name, but it is man's name...
Waterski 02-08-2012, 08:26 PM How about Moe's Mountain?
brdad 02-08-2012, 08:36 PM How about Moe's Mountain?
That's it!
Here's another one to get this going again...1085
Ekidokai 04-04-2013, 11:19 PM That looks like so many out there.
Haffy 04-07-2013, 02:15 PM Glad to see someone is keeping this going. I did the same thing here in Georgia on the GGA website and it's kind of lost interest as well lately.
brdad 04-09-2013, 06:41 AM That looks like so many other Maine Winter streams!
Ekidokai 04-09-2013, 07:15 PM Is that off the Narrow Gage trail in the Carrabassett Valley? Cache Beyond the Picnic Tables?
Looks like somewhere around the east side of the Flagstaff lake to me.
It's much farther north, not far from the more famous pond with the same name.
OK, here's a hint: [_ _ _ _] [_ _ _ _ _]
