I sent him an email this morning noting his accomplishment, and am glad to do so again here. Congrats!

But can we say someone has completed it before they sign the logbook. Actually, don't answer that here, I'll start a new thread... Let's keep this on topic.

You must have used an economy car. I'm sure we spent way more than that.:p ;)

Since these two statements were included together, they insinuate that we have indicated that we have "finished" the Delorme Challenge. We have never at any time made this statement. We HAVE said we finished all the pages/quads, pending verification, and would like to make that clear.

On the other hand, the owner in the following statement from the cache page seems to indicate you have finished the challenge when you have found all of the pages/quads, again pending verification.

1. As mentioned above, the posted coordinates are not the actual coordinates for the cache. The actual cache may actually be quite some distance from these coordinates!
Alright I'll be honest, the final cache consists of a logbook in a large container that will remain in my possession. Once you have finished the challenge and I have verified the completion, I will email you the correct coordinates of the cache for you to get to the logbook so you can sign it.

And later on the cache page the owner indicates who is qualified to log the final cache at the arranged meeting/date.

7. While you may have others with you when you find the final cache. Only those who have fulfilled ALL criteria for this cache will be allowed to log it as a find. Find logs by other cachers will be deleted.

So apparently there are TWO dates that may be used...one for completion of the challenge/quads and one for signing the log in the final cache.

....and THANKS to ALL!:)

This just means that we can congratulate you twice! Even better.:p

I guess it's all in how it's worded, I guess we can thank the English language for that. In my email I recognized you for completing the maps, here it could be taken either way. I didn't mean to insinuate in any way you considered yourself finalizing the challenge. Sorry.

Just wanted to clarify what could have been misconstrued by the two statements. And I would like to acknowledge that Dave was the first to graciously congratulate me by personal email early in the morning. Thank you for that. :) And then I think I hijacked the thread! OOPS!

I hope you had as much fun completing the challenge as I did. The really cool thing is seeing places of Maine that we'd probably not see unless we were doing the challenge. Once again... Congratulations!
