I was thumbing through the March issue of the MPBN monthly magazine and saw a program called "Geocache" listed for broadcast at 10:30pm on Monday, March 17. The description reads:

To some it may be a glorified treasure hunt, but to others it is a pastime that requires intelligence, analysis, calculation and cunning. Geocache is an emerging outdoor sport in which players employ global satellite positioning technology, the Internet and hiking skills on a high-tech but low-stakes treasure hunt to locate items hidden all over the world. A new film details the origins and rules of the game, the various types of caches and the lengths players will go to in hiding and finding caches.
They make the sport sound pretty good, but I have to wonder about the intelligence part. :D

Sheesh! I don't watch MPBN, so don't know if they have a channel besides 10!

LOL?

OK - so who is doing this? I, with Cache Maine, will be doing a program at the Orrington Public Library in April (just before the Pirate Quest).

Someone must be doing this for MBPN - please do tell? Who?

I dislike sports but I know what ESPN is. No clue what sports channel MBPN is.

MPBN is the Maine Public Broadcasting Network. The description of the program makes it sound like a network production rather than a local one, but I guess we will find out when it airs. In the Waterville area they are on channel 10.

Looks as if this show may have been on earlier in different parts of the country. There is a thread on the Groundspeak forums.

Sounds like a good show.

Sorry, I grew up in the 60's and we called it PBS. Now I understand.

I watched the show a couple of months ago on the PBS station in our locality. It was a fairly good show and they had an interview with either Jeremy or Nate I can't remember which at Geowoodstock V as well.

Apparently the annual fund drive upset the schedule, it was not on. I also was set to record it. Will have to see if I can learn if they plan on airing it.
