a geocoin could be adopted?
I received an email this morning from GC.com with the subject title: Log deletion notice. In the email it mentioned a geocoin whose name did not ring a bell to me. I clicked on the link and it said “cannot review archived logs” so I clicked on the owners profile to see if I could figure out what the geocoin in question is. Apparently someone has adopted a coin that I probably grabbed umpteen years ago that I can’t even remember. Looking at the picture of the coin, it’s a nice coin too. But it looks as if this person adopted the coin from the original owner and then deleted all the logs that had been associated with it. It also appears that he is also keeping this coin for his collection to bring to events for people to discover. He deleted all the logs associated with it and then renamed the coin slightly to start it off as a new coin. Its not a big deal (its just a game) but I thought it was odd. The only problem is that I lose the geocoin icon  from my coin finds and so does everybody else who ever logged this coin.
Has this happened to anybody else?

One of the very popular Maine cachers, has developed a " lost geocoin " series and sent out into the world a lot of coins. Once you find your lost coin you can choose to adopt it. If you do you lose the found icon and gain an icon as the owner. The odd part is, the new owner chose to delete all of the previous logs. I wonder if the original owner of the coin, knew this would happen.

Which coin icon did you lose?

You may be able to relog the coin. I have adopted a couple of coins but choose to leave the previous logs in tact. I have also had my log deleted from a coin but a note to the new owner asking if I could log it and explaining that I had the tracking number was all it took to clear it up.

Can we get back to the topic at hand? I don't think that people should delete the logs of others. Espicially if there is no apparent damage caused.

And this should apply to caches as well as coins and TB's. That is when no damage is caused that is.

I remember hearing of this happening with caches - someone adopts a cache, and deletes every log, found and unfound, and starts the cache off as new. Kind of defeats the whole reason of adopting a cache or a coin in my opinion. If you're going to start off new, start with a new cache/coin/TB!
