Team2hunt 05-22-2008, 05:56 PM Carpool Caching
This is a place where you can let other cachers know where you intend to head. Just in case someone else would like to go along and share the ride, and the expenses.
Gas was at 3.99 in North Windham this afternoon. Never thought I would see that!!
Thanks Rick for listening....:D
hollora 05-22-2008, 10:01 PM Great idea!
Due to my schedule and family obligations I don't get much chance to cache on weekend, very rarely as a matter of fact. Soooo, if there are any folks who would like to get together mid-week in the Waterville/Augusta area or for that matter any place within 50 or so miles from the metropolis of Albion, I would enjoy getting together to spend a day(s) of caching.
hide_from_the_kids 05-27-2008, 06:58 AM Great idea :)
cachecrashers4 06-02-2008, 11:32 PM Would love to go out with an experienced cacher so my son and I can see the proper way to cache.
darterkitfox 06-03-2008, 06:49 AM Unfortunately Warren is quite a ways from Norway. Someone nearer please take cachecrasher4 out so we get a new person actively caching.
Haffy 06-03-2008, 04:38 PM There yah go TRF,Warren is not too far away!!!

Sheesh! You expect to learn "the proper way to cache" from this group? LOL!
brdad 06-03-2008, 06:09 PM I took a cacher for his first cache hunt, behind the China School if I remember correctly. That decision changed caching as we knew it for the entire state. :D
(Take that any way you want to, Haffy :) )
Haffy 06-03-2008, 08:31 PM Well I wouldn't say the entire state but the Central Maine area anyway,,,,,, Thanks Dave,it surely has added a new dimension to my life for sure and the friends I have made along the way, well that speaks for itself.

I think China School Forest is a great kid-friendly cache! If you can get to one of the summer events you'll learn more about caching than you ever wanted to know from some of the nicest people in the State. Hope to meet you soon!:)
pjpreb 06-03-2008, 09:01 PM :ooperator error - double posted this one - sorry!:rolleyes:

Remember....I pick because I care.
hollora 06-03-2008, 09:15 PM It's interesting the China School has and has had a handicapped, wheelchair accessible treehouse and yet there is a summer camp being praised by one of the Bangor local TV channels as having the "first handicapped, wheelchair accessible treehouse in the state". Sort of a shame as this one is really nice and probably was the 1st!
Haffy 06-04-2008, 05:01 PM True the treehouse is handicapped accessible but the trip to get out there, well that probably is not though. Glad I was able to adopt and then to be able to have Maine Geocachers able to adopt the cache. It surely has been the topic of many great posts and the kids surely do enjoy it as well.
hollora 06-04-2008, 06:13 PM Haffy - the trek to the cache would be dependant upon they type of wheelchair one had. Some of the paras and quads, I know, have chairs which would find the trail a piece of cake.
Regardless, the tree house is accessible and therefore - the one at the camp is not "the first". Any thank you for saving this cache and ensuring it was passed along for others.

LOL! There used to be a guy that lived down the road from me, traveled for MILES in his motorized chair, dragging the dog along behind. Trouble is, sometimes the dog would drag him off the road, and he'd be stuck in the soft ground until someone came along and got him back on the road. :D:D
