We noticed on GC.com that IntotheWoods is looking for folks to adopt his caches in Maine. If they were closer to us we would take them on but they are a bit out of the way for us to maintain. If anyone would be willing to adopt any or all of these caches we are sure that IntotheWoods would be thankful. We recently did his Shell Game cache and really enjoyed the history lesson about the middens and would hate to see this one disappear. So if anyone is interested in adopting these caches get in touch with them.

Darn, wish I could. I don't get up to that area very often (probably the last time I was up there was five years ago). :(

I used to be up there a few times a month. Oh, well.

Damariscottia, New Castle, Bristol, Wiscasset and Pemaquid Beach area.

Some of these are classic caches and qualify for the Unique College Challenge.

I think I have done them all and I look forward to doing his caches down here in the Charleston SC area the next time I get down that way. He has some very very unique and interesting and historical caches all the time.

I adopted Shell Game--it's right around the corner from my work. I haven't found the others yet, so I should find them first before adopting them right?:)

Another one of my very favorites for it's history! I just imagined my granddaughters relatives years ago paddling down............

Thanks for saving this great and historical location cache! Woot!

Are they Native American? My husband is too--Passamaquoddy. It was really neat to read about that history.

I loved Shell Game, I'm really glad that got adopted. I was thinking about offering to adopt it, since we're in Boothbay Harbor several times a year. And yes, you should find the others first, then offer to adopt them.

Hollora's son-in-law and granddaughter are Native American, Penobscot. I have a cache in Eustis named after a very good friend of mine, "In Memory of Georgia". She was Passamaquoddy and the cache has a Native American theme.

We've adopted Railroad Ramble, we haven't done the others (except for Shell Game) or we would have offered to adopt those as well.

Nice cache but that one was where I got the patookie scared out of me when I got back to the car. Nice trails and cache though.

How many adoptions are left?

Thank you . . . I loved this cache . . . for both the view and the history. Glad to see it will be preserved.

That is wonderful Dan - woot! That was a cool cache and really compliments my Died On The Forth of July!

Are the lobster rolls really that good??? Lobster Roll meet N greet? I love Lobster rolls! LOL

One year we could do Half Moon Meet N Greet at the local Bagel Shop and the next the Lobster Roll Meet N Greet at Shaws. All related to 4th of July caches.

Justtt kidding - sorry - my bad, not meaning to derail the thread. Seems there is one left - Faraway, So Close! (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=3368bdc9-1641-4765-ae8f-2a0fea8e36ee) by IntotheWoods (GCMD57)

Thanks MoxiePup for bringing these to our attention. The community has responded as usual.

I went to Faraway, so close and have offered to adopt the cache but haven't heard back, I just am not sure what to do. I haven't claimed it as a find yet, didn't know if I can if I adopt it. What do people think?

I am sure IntotheWoods will get back to you on the pending adoptions they might just be busy.

It is great how everyone has chipped in on this. I would have hated to see these caches disappear because no one knew they were up for adoption.
Congrats to all the new cache owners!!!:)

This will give me an excuse to hit Shaw's in New Harbor for their world's best lobsta roll!

Larson's Lunch in Damariscotta has had the best lobster rolls and crab rolls ever (or should I say evah?) Try one of those then compare. They serve it with a fork! They are under new ownership now so I'm not sure how they are this year, but previous years they were just huge!

That is a great cache too with a nice hike. If you have a boat or canoe you will see where the cache name comes from.

I have adopted 3 caches and had previously found all 3 of them. I kept the smileys. :)
