View Full Version : New Guy in Farmington
98XJSport 09-09-2009, 04:08 PM Hi everyone, names Ryan. Im living in Farmington right now, and just trying to get into the geocaching game. Give me something to do driving around in my jeeps, and is very tempting to put a cache or 2 out in some of my jeeping spots.
brdad 09-09-2009, 04:23 PM Welcome to the addiction and do this site! Take a look around and see what's here. There is a geocaching event in Hampden this Saturday, you should check it out.
Don't rush to hide a cache, find a few and see what you think of the game and gain some ideas before taking that step.
benandtina 09-09-2009, 04:24 PM Hello! Welcome to the forums and to this addicting game!!
98XJSport 09-09-2009, 04:25 PM Thanks for the welcome. Ive found about a dozen so far, hopefully a couple more tonite. There are lots within 10 miles of here. I try to go north for caches more often then not, been trying to make a short trip every night.

Welcome, there's definitely quite a few 4x4 caches around, and a few more never hurt! :D (I had a 99xj, may it RIP) :( had to get a truck to move the stupid 4wheeler around... you should've joined up a month sooner, we just had our annual off road cache event.
98XJSport 09-09-2009, 04:29 PM I remember seeing something about it, but Ive been to busy. Things are just slowing down now so I can play around with things like this.
Im also on www.maine4x4.org (http://www.maine4x4.org) and www.midcoastjeep.com (http://www.midcoastjeep.com) if anyone recognizes the user name.
squirrelcache 09-09-2009, 04:38 PM I used to run VW(rail) woods buggies...then a Grand Cherokee LE. Currently have a diesel 4x4 that hopes to be pulling a Rubicon while camping up North. I missed out on some great Jeep club rides up your way because I didn't have the mandatory mounted winch. The Hi-lift isn't good for everything ;)
There are some great folks on here that would love to get out caching w/you sometime. Don't be shy. It's a great way to get the low down on the game and avoid common mistakes. Not to mention the laughs/memories! ;)
98XJSport 09-09-2009, 04:54 PM Ive got an JK:

And am trying to go every evening after work. Hoping to get out to some of the more remote ones when the XJ is finished.
Thanks for the welcome everyone :)

Brought back some fond memories of my Cherokee... :D
98XJSport 09-09-2009, 10:08 PM The XJ has been great to me, been mine for almost 6 years. Going to turn over 200K soon and still going strog, just need to find the time to finish it. It's the vehicle that I dont mind getting scratched in the tight trails.
kayaking loon 09-22-2009, 12:37 PM So... are you coming to the Eustis event this Saturday? If so, you should do the SW E Kennebago run, and invite some less fortunate people to ride with you!
98XJSport 09-24-2009, 09:24 PM Im actually going to be right in the area but Im going to be on the water, going to be my last chance to fish little kennebago. I wish the two events didnt overlap. :(
