View Full Version : Another "quietly getting it done" milestone
pm28570 03-01-2010, 02:28 PM I'm pretty happy about being the one to post this.... Parmachenee, Frank and Charron, have broken thru 5000 caches. This is amazing. Having met Frank and Charron a few times and CITO'd along with Frank, what a great example of what caching is meant to be, in my mind. These numbers are real, from mountain top to valley with an occasional GRC thrown in. And, some really nice hides as well. Congratulations!
Now, Charron and Frank, please tell me what your most memorable caching experience has been?
Moonsouth 03-01-2010, 03:30 PM I met Parmachenee one time at a cache in Howland, very nice people. Congrats on breaking 5k!!! Truly amazing.
JustPJ66 03-01-2010, 06:12 PM wow that is truely a monumental achievement! Congrats to you!
dubord207 03-01-2010, 06:16 PM Wow, seems like we were just offering congrats on 4000. You two have really been piling 'em up, and I know slapping on a pair of snowshoes doesn't slow you down either.
So congrats on the huge 5000 finds achievement. You're in unique company with that milestone. Well done my friends!!:)
vicbiker 03-01-2010, 07:03 PM Congratulations on a big milestone...couldn't have happened to two nicer people. Thanks also for all you do for Geocaching, I always enjoy one of your caches.
hollora 03-01-2010, 07:17 PM Congrats - my first cache was one of theirs and a fun one it was. Should I blame them for my addiction?
Have known Charron from her teaching days. She and Frank are truly lovely people. Supportive in quiet ways - the way they cache. I am honored to know them and to have known Charron's parents too!
Cache on - cache happy!
Gob-ler 03-01-2010, 07:18 PM Keep up the great caching rate. It will not be long until you are #1 in Maine!
Congratulations Frank and Charron!
cachecrashers4 03-01-2010, 07:39 PM Congrats on 5k!
JustKev 03-01-2010, 08:55 PM Nice job. We're only a few behind you....me and JustPJ66. We logged #40 yesterday so you better keep watching your six.
benandtina 03-01-2010, 10:13 PM Wow! Congratulations!!!
parmachenee 03-02-2010, 07:10 AM Thanks for the acknowledgements both here and the pm's. We can't pick a favorite but 5000 caches does come with a lot of stories and adventures: the Groleau caches, the Deathwish caches, the "en cours de construction" cache at 11,000ft in Colorado which was snowbound the next day, our encounter with a mother bear and cub, encounter with a rattlesnake, encounters with police and gamewardens, the hikes and snowshoes to the tops of mountains with "sherpa Charron schlepping" refreshments. :D Most importantly though is the time we have spent geocaching with friends, our son, our grandchildren...we have a new grandson as of last Friday to introduce to geocaching :)...and our time together. I did have to buy a nuvi to navigate with as Charron had a habit of telling me to turn well after we went by it! It's been a great journey since that first cache "Homeworld" on Christmas Day of 2002! It's interesting to note that out of the first 10 caches we did, only 3 are still active. Thanks again!
firefighterjake 03-02-2010, 09:18 AM I don't usually post in these "atta boy" threads . . . but Frank and Sharon are good people and top notch geocachers . . . for them it truly isn't about the numbers, but the experience. It has been my priviledge to have met them on the trail more than a few times.

A new grandson! Congratulation on another milestone! Explains why you didn't cache on Friday
I really enjoy the responses when I ask for favorites or memorable experiences. Makes up for not getting to talk to everyone I want at events.
pjpreb 03-02-2010, 09:51 PM Whoa - 5000 caches?! We're in awe :) What a great way to spend quality time together. Congrats on the milestone and congrats on the new grand baby!
Waterski 03-02-2010, 11:58 PM I always enjoy seeing your name in the logbook, and congratulate you. Walking in the woods with a grandchild is another advantage of this sport or game. We trudged one through the mud and puddles over the weekend, under two, and it is an enriching experience. Glad you have enjoyed so many great experiences since you started and your caching family is growing. That is what it is all about for me...great times with family and friends and great sights and adventures.... Here is to many more for you. :)
Haffy 03-03-2010, 03:00 AM I hate to say this one more time but I will, remember when we had the same numbers?...LOL You guys certainly have taken this on full heartedly and it must be great being retired... I remember when I thought I was retired but that didn't last long enough til the money ran out. Hope if you get down south some time we might have the chance to get together once again. Congrats to a great caching couple.
