Easy to find. Just follow the GPS until you get within about 75 feet and you should be in front of the house.

http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum/images/misc/navbits_start.gif (http://www.geocachingmaine.com/)This caching event will be to try and get Maine geocachers together. We know it is hard for the Maine cachers in southern Maine to make it to the cache events in the Bangor area. So we are making an effort to help them make this event.

We have a grill and everyone can bring their own food to cook. We have a fairly large back yard. We can set up a slip and slide on the small hill in the back yard for the children or adults. We have done this for family events and it was very successful. We will have a canopy tent set up in case of rain. The canopy is a 10 x 20 and with the sides open it becomes a 24 x 20. We will be setting up a screen house too.

I am in the process of adding at least two close caches in the area so they can be found before or after this event for this event and left for future caching.

If you want to get here earlier and head out for somewhat local caching then you can stop off here first and leave what you donít want to carry around in your car. We can also set up an area if someone wants to tent here for the night. If we get some tenters we can have a fire in the fire pit at night if it is not too windy. You can tent for the night at the event and use our house as home base, you are more then welcome. If anyone is interested in bringing a tent and making this an overnighter event just let us know or if you just want to tent in the yard for a night let us know we have plenty of room.

We are also only one mile away from a bunch of lakes. There is a bridge just down the road that the local kids and adults use to jump from. It is only about 10 feet off the water.

For those that are interested I have a wireless router that can be turned on if they want to bring there laptops.

Maybe from here we can discuss the status of the geocoins and see where we should go from here.

We are very opened minded on what to have and do at this cache. The idea was to get a cache event in the southern area of the start so we could get some of the coastal Maine cachers to attend and meet them and share stories and pass on ideas and information.

Goals for this event include:
1. Sharing and showing others how to use a GPS.
2. Passing on helpful information for finding caches.
3. Demonstrating geocaching software and the pros and cons of different software.
4. Discussing our new Maine geocoin if it is not finalized by then.
5. Emphasizing LNT.
6. Discussing the procedures of hiding a cache.
7. Exchanging travel bus to move along.
And anything else that may come up.

Things to bring:
1. You and anyone interested in attending.
2. The food that you want to eat.
3. Chairs to sit in.
4. A good attitude.
5. Tent and sleeping gear if you plan on spending the night.
6. If you have an extra grill it might help.
7. Bathing suit, just in case.
8. Travel bugs to pass along.

The wife and I have been talking and we are thinking of hosting an event cache on June 18th in Litchfield at the house here. We were thinking of making it a BBQ style event.

I am in the process of adding at least two close caches in the area so they can be had for this event and left for futures caching.

You can tent for the night at the event and use our house as home base you are more then welcome. Is anyone interested in an overnighter event with tents here?

We are also only one mile away from a bunch of lakes. There is a bridge just down the road that the local kids and adults use to jump from. It is only about 10 feet off the water.

What does everyone think about this and who would be interested in attending?

Nothing on my schedule at this point - don't see any reason why I can't be there. Will you still hold it if I say I will attend? LOL

Hi,
Can't be sure if we can make it or not yet. We're supposed to go to the monster-in-laws to put in fence and take our neice and nephew camping in June too. And pretty soon I'm going to get the "we have work to do around the house" thing. I'll start working on him soon anyway!:D

I will make it if at all possible. The 25th looks like the only one I couldn't make as we will be camping. But as others have said, don't plan it around me. The 18th would definitly be my best one. :D

I think that would work since the Chicks were thinking of July 16th as a date for ours!

That is the weekend of the Trek Across Maine, which I ride in every year. But, I always enjoy a little challange. And, if I ride real fast, I can easily get there before the burgers are done!

Count me in! (I'll try to get my brother to come too, especially since he has the car!)

wbdent Alright it got approved. We will be getting a canopy tent this weekend for the event. It is the type that can be totally enclosed or the sides can be opened to make it larger. We figured it would be nice to have around for events like geocaching and anything else that comes up. This way we will always have something to stand under in case of bad weather.

wbdent Alright we got Team Teebow to come. I have been wanting to meet you guys for awhile. I have done some of your great caches and read your logs. Now if we can just pull in some of the others in the area and along the coast that would be awesome.

I work on Saturdays, but maybe i can sneak out a little early and set up a tent Sat. evening (leaving a good excuse to hit some western Maine caches on Sunday). Is anyone else planning on overnighting Saturday? I don't want to get there and everyone is gone, but if people are still there by 6pm, I'll go for it.

wbdent I would like to see some people spend the night. That would be great. We could sit around the fire at night if it is not to windy. We could also hit some caches together the next day. I will let everyone us the showers if they are nice. LOL. I am going to New Hampshire in a couple of weeks to get fireworks for the 4th of July so maybe we can set a couple off on the night of the 18th too. If we can get Beach Coomber to spend the night she would keep us intertained all night I am sure. LOL. She is a real hoot to cache with I could not imagine what she is like camping.

wbdent Shh Don't tell anyone. If you don't tell anyone we won't tell anyone. We live out in the country so it is not a big isuue. If I tell my neighbnors ahead of time then it will be alright. Besides it will be a couple of weeks before teh 4th so I will only let a couple off. Not all of them. Everyone does fireworks here on the forth. The fireworks I buy are not the load bangs anway. They are pretty darn good though.

Hmmmmm - I'll have to see what I can do about staying. It would be nice to sit around a fire at night - one of my very favorite things to do and I rarely get the chance. Though it might make me so mellow that the entertainment factor will be gone:p

wbdent I have added two things that were not posted on the Slipping into summer cache 2005 even.

Updates added on 30 May 2005
For anyone camping out for the night we will have a breakfast I in the morning. Consisting of pancakes and eggs and Orange Juice. We can make instant coffee. If someone brings a coffee maker then we can make real coffee. A head count for those spending the night would be nice. Please leave me email or post it here.

i really wish i could come to this event, but that is the day of the lupine festival here on the island and the historical society is hosting a quilt show and i have to be there all day. i just have to give up being president of the society - it's seriously cutting into my caching time! lol

wbdent Another update. We are going to place one or two geocaches on our property for the kids that come to the event. There will be a door prize of some type for the first to find. We will let all the kids put the coordinates in there GPS's and then say "GO". Then the first child to find the cache will get a door prize of maybe even some real cash of some type.

wbdent We are working on only one door prize item like this but are hoping to put out several childrens caches.

Rick, these caches won't be like Alex's Monster Multiple Nightmare will they?? If they are, I won't have enough in the budget for gas AND food :p

wbdent No, No these are very easy caches. They are probably too easy. I just got confirmation that one of them has been approved. I got a note from GPSFUN saying that he archived the other three because I need permission from Maine Dept. Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. I donít know why. I wrote him back explaining more about them and I am hoping that he understands that they are not owned by the Maine Dept. Inland Fisheries & Wildlife. They are on public land. Now it is just a waiting game.

Attroll,

The cache "Did you say Caesar Salad?" is back on-line and has a couple TB's in it. I should have kept a couple TB's for trading at your event but we have held them for a couple of weeks now and just wanted to get rid of them.

We are still planning on coming although it may only be for a little while. We have a 40th wedding anniversary to attend over in Jefferson on Damariscotta Lake. So we will either be there in the beginning or in time for the fire works.

Team Teebow :D :D

We have a canopy tent set up just in case of rain. The forecast right now is calling for early morning showers and then the sun coming out. wbdent This is just a little note to let everyone know that we are looking forward to everyone coming tomorrow. I wish the weather would cooperate but it is not looking good. The weather is calling for Overcast with rain showers at times. The temps look tike around 59 to 60. So I would suggest that you bring some type of coat to ward off the chill and maybe a something that may repel rain. We have a large canopy tent set up in the back yard. It is opened up to 20 x 20 feet right now. We could make it 20 x 30 if we really need to. But I think we will be all set with what we got. We will see. I am crossing my fingers. I am really depressed about the weather. We did not purchase a new slip and slide for the kids because of the weather and the temps. It will be too chilly to use it anyways. There is always next year. Everything else is still on for the day. Cameo will be coming with a bunch of travel bug jeeps. We are going to hide some caches for the kids to find. We are hoping that everyone will start showing up between noon and 1 pm. Tink will be up early so if you want to come early you can stop in and visit her. As for me I am sleeping until about 9 or 10. LOL.

wbdent We are still hoping that some will be tenting out and spending the night. We are looking forward to sitting around the fire with good friends and putting on a little light show later.

Looking forward to tomorrow. I just packed my tent (with rain fly) and other stuff (coffee pot and things that go bang  ) If things get bad, there's always the back of the Subaru. It looks like off and on showers, nothing bad (I hope). See you there about 3pm
