Hey all - our own Darterkitfox surpassed 1500 finds the past few weeks on some vacation time in FL and the Carribean. Way to go Stephen & Carole. Rumor has it Stephen even pulled a snake out of a hole for one of the finds.

Here's to many more and a ton of fun!

Seriously? A snake out of a hole? I'd still be at 1499! Congrats, that one should worth 2!

I think if I pulled a snake out of a hole, that would be my last cache. Congratulations! On the finds that is, not the snake....

I just don't get the issue here. People are saying they wouldn't have done that cache. Don't you people watch TV? Catching the world's most poisonous snake is child's play. You just grab it's tail, talk to the camera and make funny noises as the snake strikes and nearly gets you. (Just make sure you substitute a garter snake for a poisonous one for the shots you want to use to impress people with.)

It was a snake all right and I did a lot of screeching and jumping around. My wife stuck her hand in the hole first but couldn't reach far enough. I knew the cache was in there so I reached further. I felt something hard, and something soft. I pulled out the something soft. Snakes don't bother my wife and I once sat on a hot tin roof in underwear for two hours watching a snake down below me so that when my wife got home from work she could transport it 10 miles away. I sent a picture of the snake to the cache owner and he said it was a Eastern Smooth Earth snake (Virginia Valeriae) which is very rare and very harmless. I don't consider something that can cause a heart attack without venom harmless though.
