With the anticipated great weather this weekend, what better time to get out and hike.....and grab a cache or two. What is your favorite hiking area that has caches? Sears Island? Bradbury State Park?

Sears island is nice. The coast is nice too. It's also a good time of year to do some of those back woods ones before the bugs get out in full force. Ok, anyplace that is able to be hiked is a good place to hike for caches!

We like Sears Island, of course ;)(we have 8 caches hidden there) and it's our everyday hike because it's only 6 miles from home. There's good variety with roads, trails, rocky beach, and of course, bushwhacking! Today we did a 5 mile loop starting out on the dirt road to the end of the island, and then following the west beach back to the causeway. We didn't see the cachers who were out there!

This past Sunday we hiked a small portion of the trails in the Sheepscot Headwaters Trail Network, and found them to be very interesting, with a wide range of woods, glades and wetlands on well marked and nicely placed trails. We grabbed 6 caches, and a map, and we plan to go back and hike there again.:D

Last year we found a lot of hike caches on Cape Rosier, and then of course there's also Witherlee Woods in Castine.

We haven't seen any ticks yet, but I'm sure they'll be out soon - use bug spray!

Ticks are out. I found one last month after we hit 20+ in the China area. Couldn't have been there all day though, he wasn't hard to remove.

Any trail that allows dogs. GeoKeiko and me don't like Audubon society trails.

Dodge Point, on the River Road between Boothbay and Newcastle. Eleven caches there now and a nice mix of woods and shore.

And don't forget the hike to Maine Huts & Trails Poplar Falls hut in Carrabassett Valley. I need to get more caches out there...

Vaughn Woods in Hallowell also gets my vote.
