The Arkansas geocaching board reports possible problems with WAAS systems. Here are some links to articles.

This is not good news. I hate to even say it, but if the second WAAS satellite goes down, then geocaching as we know it will end. Can anybody say "topos and compasses?

Geocaching will go back to what it was like when many of us started. YAAAAY!

(And we didn't log any more DNF's than we do now...)

And besides - most of the caches these days are going to be in either one end of the guardrail or the other.

You will be geocaching the same way like people in other countries without WAAS coverage or using GPSr units not supporting WAAS. I did both and didn't see any difference.

Fear not Lex. I'll be able to keep them up in the air until you get home.

The bad news...most of the time WAAS is not available in the woods anyway. I've been watching this and a few other things. A bunch of the satellites are burning out and a lot of the time don't even work right.

The good nws...The accuracy will only be off a little for the handheld. We will be able to still use the Nuvi's but just have to pay more attention to where we are as they my state we are closer or farther away at times.

I am more concerned with the rouge satellite possibly dropping out of the sky onto my Jeep while out caching....
