I've been trying to sign onto the site to log the caches that I've done over the past couple of days. I was in upstate NH and had no access to the internet, so I don't know if it just went down or if it's down for maintenance.

They've had a note at the top of cache pages for a few days, but if you don't log in it's hard to know! Surprising I caught it since I use my PQs 95% of the time, but the last few days I have been researching caches outside the state.

Anyway, the site is still not up yet, but the release notes have been posted. Go figure!

Release Notes 7/28/10
Trackables Dipping!

You can now "Visit" a trackable in a cache. This allows you to drop and retrieve a trackable in a single step. To dip a trackable it must be in your inventory. The cache logging page has also been redesigned slightly to make it easier to select the trackables you are dropping/visiting.

WYSIWYG text editor for Trackables

Wysi-what? WYSIWYG stands for "What You See Is What You Get", and describes a text editor that let's you add HTML to your descriptions in a more friendly manner. In this first implementation we have added the text editor to the Trackables creation/edit page, but the plan is to add it to Geocaches in a future release.

Alternate email addresses

This new feature allows you to add and validate alternate email addresses for use when creating Pocket Queries and Instant Notifications. When validated, these secondary email addresses will appear in a dropdown menu for selection on the creation page for Instant Notifications and Pocket Queries.

You logged this as Found on...

Check caches you have logged in the past for this notice in the right column under the cache options.

Language Settings

When you select a new language from the site footer it automatically updates your preferred language setting in your profile.

Agreed! I'd be happy to see the feedback tab go too!

The WYSIWYG editor will be nice for some if it works well, especially when it's implemented for cache pages. I've had a few people ask for a tutorial but I never found a good way to do it, and I am no HTML expert anyhow...

OK, Andy asked so here it is (and I respectfully submit that this recipe makes a butt-kicking drink!)

Fill a tall glass with ice, not crushed ice. Add a shot and a splash of Absolute Peppar vodka. (Hard to find, I get in at the store in Portsmouth) Lou's Beverage barn has it in Augusta.)

5 or 6 shakes of Worcestershire

4 shakes of Tobasco

1 healthy spoon of horseradish

Squeeze in juice from a slice of lime

AND THE FOLLOWING SECRET COMPONENTS ( Don't tell anybody!)

Fill glass with Clamato Juice

8 or 9 shakes of Old Bay Seasoning

I then blend this in a shaker or pouring from one glass to another a few times, add a whole piece of celery and then marvel how good it is! You will too!

Drink responsibly.

Wow! I started this thread because I was away for a few days and found GC.com was down when I tried to sign in (scheduled maintenance). Now the thread involves a Bloody Mary recipe.

We get kind of distracted around here, don't we? :D:D:D

Have a couple of (above recipe) for breakfast and you won't care if GC is down!
(Sounds good too, but very detrimental to starting a day of caching. Now finishing a day of caching...:p )

You don't mix anything in those. The tomatoes are loaded with caffeine.
