I know they are not loggable through geocaching.com, but has anyone here done any of the caches at Sunday River?

Which caches would those be? And, on what site?

Nope, this system is good enough.

Sunday River Geocaching (http://www.sundayriver.com/eventsactivities/summeractivities/Geocaching.html)

I have not done them, and probably won't, only because I don't spend much time in that area. If I was spending a few days there I'd do them in a heartbeat.

I think this was a good option for Sunday River. They are providing an extra feature to their customers. Since it's not listed on gc.com, they skip the approval process, and can place caches on their land where and how they see fit. And they will most likely only get cachers logging them who want to come to the area and possibly take time to use the other services they provide, not those that would just scramble through to log their finds and leave.

not sure why GC.com approval wouldn't still be a good idea? I'm not sure if I would go up there for them any time soon, but if I did, I would not "just scramble through..." they also list the coords on their map...

They can't be logged on Geocaching.com? Why bother..... they don't count as a number for me. Pointless

Its not always about the numbers....they might be a fun time to do....

It looks to me like it might be another way for them to get revenue as they rent the equiptment per day. Without logs however, it might be hard to keep track of what condition they are in and if they have been compromised, unless they check them constantly themselves.....or maybe searchers just report to them if they can't locate one.

Well, as I said, avoiding gc.com rules is probably the main reason. If it's your property, you can use any rules you want for non-gc.com caches. They can move these caches when and where they want. They could bury them or place them 50 feet apart. In this case there might also be the issue of them being considered commercial caches, especially if they are putting Sunday River swag in the caches, which is very likely.

That's not to say there would not be benefits to having them listed on gc.com.

If it is not about the numbers, why do you even log your caches on GC.com?

I log them so that the cache finder can get a nice note from me that states how I enjoyed doing their caches and appreciate their hides. If you know me well you would know that I have cached for a long time, do not have a lot of cache numbers, and do not cache or hide caches to compete with numbers.

It doesn't have to be about the numbers to want to log the caches on gc.com. I have just two hides and love seeing the logs when others find them. I don't log caches "TFTC SL" I put something on each one. The better the cache, the better the log.

And I really like finding caches others have logged a DNF on. Why, just this past Thursday I found one dubord207 logged as a DNF.

Kev's right, I spent a half hour looking for that one back in October of '09. I believe that was the day I forgot to take my meds before venturing out for a few caches. "Prestigious"? not really, more like avid or compulsive!:)
