Cache Maine

I thought it would be neat to create a scrapbook for all the cachers in Maine and pass it around for everybody to add to and enjoy. So here it is, Maine Geocaching Memories (http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=e8b4ea37-9c85-4b1c-9365-f5df8ae1d9ff). It's also a travel bug so anybody that contributes to the book can also log the tb.

The scrapbook will start out this weekend at the "Slipping into Summer" event...be sure to bring pictures and other mementos to add to your page!

I was trying to think up some ideas for people to do in the book, here are a few:
* Make a team page. Feel free to bring pictures to add!
* Write about something funny that happened while caching.
* Describe "a day in the life of a cacher."
* Create your own top 10 list for geocachers.
* Tell about the neat places in Maine that you have seen as a result of caching.

I've got some great stories to share and look forward to reading some others. So girls, can I tell them about the Etna Bog trip, or the "forky" intersection in Deer Isle? LOL :D

Cameo - fun idea! We can do the Etna Bog page together - that would be fun - a story I love to share for sure.

Are these standard scrapbook size pages? In other words, use a 12" x 12" piece of paper as the foundation for the page we want to contribute?

We could also have a standard 12x12 scrapbook that people could even work on their pages at home and then bring them to the event to put in the book. With the journal, I thought we could have everyone sign it and tell a little something at every event, starting this weekend. I know some cachers are really creative, so I'll bring a little bag of scrapbooking stuff with the journal if they want to embellish a little.

No need to do anything different than what you already had planned - I couldn't tell in the picture and just wanted to make sure. I look forward to telling a couple of stories - hehehe - already have a couple in mind!

We should probably get a scrap book put together and have one of the board members make arrangements to have it at every Geocaching Maine event.

I'll be collecting pictures and stuff from the Geocaching 101 Event in Orono tomorrow. I love this idea.

The scrapbook which was stated by Cameo aka Cache Maine has been taken to events. Some of the folks who have posted have just not been to events where this item actually has been taken.

I did not go back to the original post to see if this was being done by the poster on behalf of this site or the poster. Perhaps someone should PM or EM CM and ask about what she started.

Speaking of this . . . and in the fine tradition of derailing threads . . . I ran into a new cacher -- Kingfisher-- who had attended this event and was out in the Lincoln area doing some caching . . . said he learned quite a bit at the event. I mentioned this site . . . who knows . . . perhaps we'll see him here at some point.

Wow Kingfisher, didn't really meet him but I think I do remember him. He was one of the lucky ones that came early and I got to spend some time with.

Seemed like a nice guy . . . out caching with his daughter . . . I think he said he was given the GPSr earlier in the year as a gift and finally decided to do some geocaching. Said the time spent in Orono was good . . . thought you and anyone else there might like to know folks appreciated the time you volunteered.
