This happened to me one time with the 60 c I had by accident remove the map from map source by highlighting all of the state because I thought it was easier to see. Then I shipped it to the unit. What I had done was select the area that I didn't want shipped. Try sending the map and waypoints from your soft ware agian.

Good luck!!

Alex from Team Nirvana uses a Sport trek He may be able to help. Try PMing him.

My mapping software (Mapsend) has to be set as the same baud rate as the receiver, If they are different the computer can't find it. There is a search program to look at for the receiver at different baud rates that may help. (Click options, GPS settings, autodetect) ALso go to properties on My Computer, Device Manager and see if he computer can see the receiver regardless of baud rate.) Worst case is that the receiver has jumped off into gps hell. I would be calling techinical support at Magellan if that dosent work

did that already with mapsend and it couldnt find it... i just looked in device manager and the computer does see comm 1. Ive been trying since yesterday too get ahold of tech support on the phone and that was a no go. I also sent them email, and they sent a reply but that didnt help. So i sent them a reply saying that and no reply back yet.

Maybe what I need is the basemap image file???

I just connected my receiver to mapsend. After it found it, the device manager did not show it. The manager did report that com1 was funtioning correctly. So that is not helpful info. You said basemap. Is there a simple map on the display? Adding Mapsend adds contour lines and all the extra detail. If there is no base map, I would be thinking a hardware problem exists in the receiver.

You can try this person. I use her for all might GPSr questions..

Peggy at the Map Store in Old Town, Maine

Her # is 207 827 4511. If nothing else she can give you a better number so that you are not on hold at megellan for so long.

Good luck

Bravo Dave! I forgot about Peggy. That's where I got my receiver.

I called Peggy, told her what was going on with the GPS and she told me the best thing to do is send it to Magellan for repair.

I was thinking.... whats the chances of this problem happening again, and again, and again . . . . . ?

From posts that I have read in the GC.com forums, the Magellan support sucks unlike the great support that comes from Garmin. Hope it's still under warranty,if not it could be expensive.

Its not under warranty.. :( I sent my sportrak map to Ontario, the place the USA Magellan suggested I send it cause I'm in Canada. I called the guy and told him the problem. He told me to send it, and if he could fix it, it would be about $60 Canadian.
