Looking for info on log cabin kits. Benefits/disadvantages. Good companies vs. bad companies. Specifically, does anyone know anything about Maine Cedar Log Homes in Windham?

One thing I would like to point out about log homes. They are not energy efficielnt. A log wall has an R-value roughly equal to an energy efficient window. They attempt to make uo for this by heavily insulating the roof (About R 50) Envision a greenhouse with a super insulated roof. If yoy like the "look" build a conventional stick house and put log-look liding on the outside and T&G pine on the inside. If that sounds expensive, compare that with the high energy bill you will pay for as long as you own the log home.
