My dad has a bunch of 8 mm movies from when he was in the Navy from Antartica and many other ports that I have never seen and would like to do so. The only problem is that his movie projector doesnt work anymore. So my questions is does anyone know where I can get the film strip recorded to a vhs or dvd best if in the greater Bangor area?

Ursa (?sp) productions in Waterville may be able to do it. We converted VHS PALS to NTCS. It was a little bit pricey but no more so than some of the other mail order places. Also sometimes the Vo techs will do it.

I went to a flee market and got a very contancerous old projector. It works, but it takes a lot of paitience. I also got a little gaget that lets you take video of the projected image. the whole set up works if you are carefull. Of course, you will need a digital video camera. (Mine no longer works)

That reminded me of another place. The Instructional Systems Center in the basement of Shibles Hall at UMO might be interested if the films have some historical interest.
