Forum Guidelines

Forum Guidelines

There are guidelines you should be aware of before you post messages.   In general, we will leave it to you, the community, to police yourselves.  Remember that this is a public venue read by many people.  We are not attempting to censor any messages or opinions posted.  We simply want to preserve the spirit of an open, interactive discussion without offending participants and readers.

Things to keep in mind when posting:

§         Respect the guidelines outlined here for forums and site usage
§         Post in English
§         If you want to praise or criticize, give constructive examples as to why it is good or bad, rather than attacking an individual.
§         Public forum posts should be reserved for matters of interest to the general community.
§         Personal discussions should take place in private.
§         Any messages you post will stay available to the public for as long as this discussion board is online. Please post carefully, once you have posted your message it is here to stay.
§         Staying on topic can be difficult.  If the originator of the thread would like for the thread to remain on topic, a message indicating this at the time the original post is made should be included in the statement.  If the thread veers off topic beyond what the thread originator is comfortable with, that individual should make a post asking that the thread return to the topic.  Moderators are available to assist as well and can be contacted by the thread originator.

About our Moderators:

Forum Moderators are volunteers that give up their time to help build a better community. They will assist with focusing topics and enforcing guidelines by reviewing active threads, as well as receiving comments and complaints from other website users.  They have the ability to edit/delete posts, to move, close or delete topics, and to temporarily ban a user.

What to do if you have a complaint:

If you have an issue with a specific post/topic on this board, please use the ‘report this post’ icon (red triangle with exclamation point) in the upper right hand corner of the post.  The post will be reviewed and addressed accordingly.

What will happen if a post does not meet the Forum Guidelines:

The moderator(s)/administrator(s) will indicate in the thread that the post made is inappropriate, referencing the applicable guideline.  The moderator(s)/administrator(s) will also send a message via e-mail on the website to the poster providing the same information.

An additional step of editing or deleting a post and/or closing a thread will only be taken in situations in which a thread cannot be redirected by the moderator(s)/administrator(s) or appropriate circumstances.

If an individual repeatedly abuses the guidelines, the
moderator(s)/administrator(s) may chose to ban that individual from the website.

Questions regarding the decision should be presented to the moderator(s)/administrator(s) for discussion.
