Nominations will be taken until January 29th at 12 PM. Elections will be set up shortly after and the votes will be tallied.
Yes, all the current board members have spoken. The first post in this thread is regularly updated with who is in and who is not. Look at that and you will see the current standings.
Maine is a big state and I believe, as in many other states, there is room for more than one organization...not trying to compete or divide people, just trying to serve our communities...no exclusivity, not a separate forum site...just another way to bring people together through Coffee Meets, Beer get-togethers and Georallys...no rhetoric, just fun. :) I would love to participate in a georally and not organize it...whether it was southern, mid-coast, or northern...
I don't care that several years ago that there was a dust up between the north and the south. People that keep trying to infuse a difference between any of us is despicable. There is no difference between us except in your minds. The biggest problems with these events is distance.
Any attempts at encouraging or exploiting a difference is terrible. In the entire time I have been a part of geocaching I have never heard anyone say anything about a northern Maine geocachers group. However there is quit a few that have sponsored and supported SoMe geocachers. (Southern Maine geocachers).
As far as I can see there has been nothing but an inclusive effort by the board members and people above the Augusta line and a lot of separatist rhetoric from the those below that supposed line.
Sheesh! I don't think there have ever been more than 5-6 members of GeocachingMaine.org from northern Maine. If there are enough geocachers in northern Maine to establish another geocaching organization, go for it, I say! LOL!
We've been caching in northern Maine many times. We especially like to stay at the Northeastland Hotel in Presque Isle. They serve a GREAT Caesar salad (along with the steak)! (And RULost2? likes their "chocolate martinis":eek:)
:D:D
We are straying off topic here and I have contributed as well. But this thread is for nominating board members.
Is that noon or midnight??Quote:

I can be bought . . . my vote will go to the member with the campaign promise/slogan . . .
"And to each of my supporters . . . a Garmin Oregon in every pot."
:)
Absolutely not! Until the finances are public I discourage folks from making donations. All other non-profits must account for and make their info public. I am NOT accusing anyone of mishandling funds. I do however, think that in order to keep someone in the future from being accused of mishandling funds the info needs to be public.
Sorry to take thread further off topic.
Nobody has ever accused or suggested even in jest that the site owner, Rick, has mishandled funds. Anybody want to step up to the plate and take that CHEAP shot? While you may be disinclined to pony up on this, and that's fine, I find it rather bold for you, 3beans, to "discourage folks from making donations." It's not required, you're as free as anybody not to donate but why try and cause an uprising over this? Good thing I'm not Governor Lepage!
Right Dan-O
I have know Rick since before GCMe was GCMe. I also know he would never have asked anyone for money to run this site. But things cost money, and it should not come out of his own pockets. The site is for all to use and it is a very small donation if anyone even chooses to. I have and will continue to send a little in every year. I will say, if you enjoy what this site does for caching in our Maine community then send what it is worth to you. If it isn't worth anything then send nothing.
One of the threads discussing finances is GeocachingMaine finances. Notice it is not a thread named Nominations for board members. That would be this thread - the one discussing nominees for the election the majority voted on having.
Boy Scouts, East vs. West, Finances, Fundraisers, Local contacts - all great subjects and worthy of their own threads. The majority of members voted to have an election, I assume this means an election was important to them. But is sure is hard to tell the way the topics are flying here. :(
[Bruce Voice] Sheesh! [/Bruce Voice]
I was just following the thread I saw. Ok I rarely derail threads. OK It was all Aaron's fault.
And if I'm elected there will be a Garmin in every chicken....
You're right. So to get back on point, please consider my commentsas my official position on where I will be on the issue of financial reports if elected!;)
If elected I promise to be a crotchety policeman of threads gone astray.....wait we already have one of those. Shoot! I will get back to you on my campaign platform.
Sorry if I was a bit harsh there, I just think this is important.
Good laugh from the "crotchety policeman of threads gone astray" title. I promise to keep that up whether I am elected or not as well.
I have started a thread for anyone to post their campaign speeches. Get to know your nominees
Thanks Ed! I enthusiastically accept!
Honestly, I think the fact that your original nomination, which in fact gave birth to this whole thread and the voting, got conveniently "forgotten" by the powers that be here on the forum. I guess some people will do whatever they can to remain in power. The Proletariat have you....
Nomination period is over. Stay tuned for election details. Thread closed.
