From all he said, it looks like he's been drinking this for a while now.

Drinking plain water gets old after a while. I drink the powdered gatorade while I stop for lunch breaks ans dinner. I keep two 20 ounce gatorade bottles with me and mix the 16 ounce single servings in the bottles. Other than that I usually drink water from my camel back.

Keep the spirits up, Rick! Stop somewhere and have a couple of shots of what my Dad calls "Oh Be Joyful Juice"! LOL!
Hang in there Rick!
Everything is cool so far. I will hit the actual/real half way point tomorrow. Thinking about taking the half gallon challenge. This is when you reach the half way point you have to eat a half gallon of ice cream in less than one hour.
Congrats on the half way point! Hope you breeze through the rest.

Cool! Our members PJPreb met up with Rick and took him to dinner!
What a coincidence that Rick updated his journal and we happened to read it a couple of days prior to our arrival in Gettysburg. After exchanging a few text messages, we pulled up behind him at "The Wheatfield" stop on the Self Guided Auto tour of the battlefield. No real planning - just meant to be.
We had a great time peppering Rick and Hopper with questions about their journey. It was "trail magic" for us to get to spend a couple of hours with them.
Very very cool and a high point of our vacation :)
I don't know if I agree with you on this. It was trail magic for me to run into you and have you take us to dinner. Either way I had a great time sitting down with dinner you you all and chatting it up.
I passed the halfway point today but could not complete the half gallon challenge.
Happy you are moving along. It is not about the numbers but the memories you make along the way!
My sister and I are section hiking the AT in Vermont right now and plan on finishing in 10 days in Mass. We decided to stay the night at a hiker house and what met us at the door but and Attroll sticker for Whiteblazes.com! How cool is that? We won't meet Rick on the trail, but have met people that have heard of him.

Bruce, Tuesdays mileage should have been 15.2. I forgot to put in in my journal. I did not realize it until I saw it here. Thank you.

I arrived in Delaware Water Gap yesterday and went to the post office today to check my mail. I was surprised to find a box filled with gatorade. I think this came from Mike but I am not sure as there was no note or return address. I want to thank Mike or whom ever this came from. It is a great surprise and appreciated.
I guess I did send the Gatorade. Must have been a while ago. Enjoy.
So we have determined - Ekidokai is not kidding when he says he forgets! That he posted he sent bottles and Slim Jims - presumably if posted right after he did it - that is what he sent.......although the Troll didn't mention getting Slim Jims. Regardless, I am sure mail from the home front it good.
Now - to the question - should we be sending another package with the envelopes of gatorade?
I was just gonna post about not thinking the bottles would fit in the padded envelopes, but then I remembered, the packets debate and how bad they tasted. Read about it on here too. Have to start taking those pills again.
I think it would be a great idea to send the packets, Slim Jims and notes of encouragement. I'll be putting another one together soon.
Awesome - so where could we do a drop-off point to stuff and what would be the deadline to make a mailing - Ekidokai - you willing to do the mailing?
We can see what we can do to establish a DOP (drop off point).
AND we need a final dead line drop off date for your mailing!

Rick's current location.
When Bruce started this thread, he had a link that I saved as a bookmark. Now the link says the "page is broken." Is there a new link? Thanks!
Do you mean this link? It works for me...
Maybe it was down for a while.
http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=322452
That's the one I have and I get the "Oops, the page appears to be broken." I tried it with Firefox and IE just now without success. Any suggestions?
Hmmm, sounds odd...
Clear your browser cache... reset your modem? Do other sites load such as google.com, waymarking.org ? The main Trail Journals site - http://www.trailjournals.com ?
Tried that and got the same message DNS server error or something like that. Clear the browser cache? I have no idea what that means. I am on a loaner laptop but with the hard drive from my previous computer. All else has worked just fine.
Kind of dragging my feet as I was out with the Skowhegan planning board last night and didn't get home until about midnight. Next week I have two PB meetings and one DEP training to do at night as well. This isn't helping my itch to cache! It sucks being responsible!
I am at work on my office computer and the link works fine here. Guess there's something I need to do when I get home?
We're now in Ohio, and I don't have any problems with the links from a public WiFi net... :D:D
The browser cache is temporary files (often images) the computer saves so when it loads it the next time it can do it quicker. If it's happening in both Firefox and IE that should not be your problem though. In Firefox, you can clear the cache, cookies or history by looking for Clear Recent History under the Tools menu.
Sounds more like the laptop is blocking the site.... But why.....
