I think the site is experiencing too much traffic.
The link is now working fine on my computer, and I didn't change anything. Mike could be right. There's probably a lot more interest in this as many of the thru hikers are now on the home stretch. Rick has done great so far and it's understandable to hear about some of the aches and pains he's experiencing. Di and I did about 13 miles in 2 days this weekend and I admit that I'm a bit stiff legged this morning.
We're all cheering for you Rick. Hang in there!:)

Rick is blasting through the section that my sister and I did this year. From now on I should recognize a lot of the landmarks and quirks of the AT. Best of luck to him as he heads home.

Good for you Attroll. Hope your knee is better. Enjoying your logs.
You're getting so close Rick. So tough trails ahead, but you are going to complete it. Pulling for you man. See you soon!
Sounds so close, but we know better!
Just keep putting em' head, one step at a time. Anyone who has done just a trail with me knows - and keep upright! You can do it!
Just read Rick's logs through yesterday, 8/28. While he knows there's some up and down treks ahead, I like and appreciate, in an odd way, when he comments about putting one foot in front of the other in a somewhat "hyptnotic" trance. Back when I was a lot younger, I used to feel that way each winter when a group of us used to lug our gear and ski into Daicey Pond in February each winter. While that effort pales at Rick's huge effort, my sense is that he'll make it to the summit of katahdin, even if he does it on his hands and knees! Let's keep Rick in our thoughts and pull for him to make it. Not sure how often he checks this site but when he does....GO RICK GO! I know you'll make it for sure!!

Yeah, like walking to Fort Kent and back from Waterville over a couple dozen mountains! Piece of cake! Rick will make it!

Just way too impressive.
The trek so far is amazing. I would have been on my hands and knees day two. 20 miles in a day, amazing. I am so impressed.

(Sheesh! Rick has the days screwed up again - two logs for Monday, Sep 13). I guess it's easy to lose track of what day of the week it is when you're on the trail. LOL!)
Still 403 miles to go...

I am in Maine now. I am in East Andover tonight.
Welcome back to Maine. It will be great to read about the end of the trip in Maine.
Rick posted new updates today, but since he forgot to show daily mileage, I'll wait to post daily links here until he's fixed that.
Rick is in Maine, and he and his hiking partner, Hopper, were at the "Useless in Eustis" event today.
Only 176 miles to go, and Rick says he expects to finish on 10/10/10.
:D:D
My intent in posting daily links to Rick's journal entries was to show his daily mileage, but he has not posted mileage since Sep 18. But since he is getting close, it's time to get back to reading his daily logs, mileage or not.
Here is the last link I posted. If you haven't been following his journal without my prompts, you can start here.
His last entry was on Sep 29, when he was leaving Moxie Pond.
Where are you, Rick? Your completion goal is the day after tomorrow...
:confused::confused:
Just a few minutes after I posted the above, Rick is back with at least one update:
Sep 30: Monson
