Collectable or not?

I have just recently purchased my first Travel Bug to set loose. (This after having my first Geocoin evidently taken and kept) My question is no doubt stupid but, when asked during the registration of the TB if it is collectable or not I don't really know the difference and how it affects it's journey or goals.

Trackables Inventory - those you pick up to move

It's actually backwards from what most people think initially.
