Moose Point is a great one to do. It offers a very nice walk along a path that is just few yards from shore, flat and smooth.
What dates are you coming through Maine?
There are about 30-40 caches near the Maine Mall, just turn her out and get yourself some time.:D
Just wanted to quick say hi! I'm actually from South Jersey but since Ericles had a post here...
Been caching for about 2 years and have never been to Maine. I hear it's beautiful.
I'll be in Portland July 16-18 and was wondering if anyone can suggest must do stuff in the area... Would love to do some Kayaking, and see some great scenery in addition to some must do caches. Maybe manage to get to an event if there is one nearby that weekend.
I figure the locals are going to be the best help with stuff to do, especially when it comes to outdoors stuff!
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Check the front page on this site for events. Fort Willams cache is the first one put out in Maine.
No suggestions for things to see in that area, but I thought it was interesting that during an exchange of emails, "3k9amigos" and I discovered that we were at the same geocaching event in central New Jersey in 2008! :D:D
Welcome to Maine!
But perhaps "3k9amigos" will find your suggestions useful, although they say they'll only be in Portland - and we all know that Portland isn't really Maine...
(Trolling, poking the hornets nest, petting the sleeping dog... :p:p)
I've modified the original trip just a little bit. We're going to stay up in Auburn and spend the Saturday hiking around Poland Springs, and the bird sanctuary. (Any other suggestions on good hiking caching locations are welcome!)
Sunday we're heading to Portland for the day. Planning to do some caching there and stop by the bar the event Monday is being held. Unfortunately we leave Sunday night so we won't be able to make the event. Heading over to Peaks island I think... I really want to try the wherigo cache too.
Can't wait to come visit!
