As some of you know, I have been reviewing geocache page submissions since March of 2002 and when we transitioned from at-large to designated area reviewing, I became your designated reviewer. Since...
Just to put things into perspective, The Nature Conservancy has stewardship responsibility for lands they own and lands that have been placed under their control through easements or other legal...
Dan Grenier of TNC has deleted all of the find logs from the caches he viewed - his profile currently shows no finds anywhere and he is not playing the geocaching sport.
When I spoke with him on...
I was not passing judgment on any particular post; if any one perceived it that way please accept my apologies. My intent was to let everyone know that I'm on it and will provide an update after I...
The individual does work for TNC and has been in communication with me and with folks at Groundspeak over the past couple of weeks. My conversations with Daniel have been completely reasonable.

I decided to post this in a new thread in order not to derail becket's thread. There's a lot of good discussion there, by the way.
Groundspeak has received messages from The Nature Conservancy...
They are both terrific places to visit! I don't recommend travel by kayak in either case, however. :D
A couple of random thoughts - not necessarily suggestions, just thoughts.
1. It is now possible to have a geocoin minted with separate tracking numbers on each side. For an example, see TB1WZ35...
Haffy, is this documented anywhere or is it just word of mouth?

Does anyone know if this is a documented policy or of any other reference beyond the e-mail mentioned in the log?
I have received a couple of messages on this so I will paste part of my reply to one Maine cacher here so everyone can be on the same page.
Hope this helps!

We've decided to choose our shipment option once we get there. The travel bug idea looks good, but there are already two TBs headed my way that have not arrived yet!
Thanks for the replies.

My wife and I have been considering a fall visit to Maine and would like to bring home an older style wooden lobster trap to use as a base for a coffee table. We thought of flying up and getting a...
Everyone can play a role in keeping the quality level of active geocaches in your area high. First, don't be reluctant to post a "needs maintenance" log on the cache page if you find one that, er,...
The owner of that cache has arranged for a Maine-based experienced geocacher to handle any maintenance issues that might arise.
I'm not sure I understand how explaining to you that a cache placed by someone outside their normal geocaching range can be published if a local person has been engaged to handle maintenance issues...
Please include the cache waypoint number (GC?????) of the cache or caches you find to be of concern.
Thank you.
After considerable work and discussion, the guidelines for publishing a cache page on geocaching.com have been updated. The last version was dated November of 2005, a long time ago by geocaching...
I am happy to report that ribnag's name has been selected randomly to receive the Groundspeak Volunteer Geocoin that I designated for a Maine geocacher back in January.
Congratulations!
I did not receive a response from the cache owner, so I have unlocked the cache page so you folks who have found it can log your finds.
Please do not encourage others to search for it as it is...
I don't know why this particular cache page was locked, so I wrote to the cache owner to ask if it is OK to unlock it but leave it archived. I'll let you know if I get a response.

I acknowledge that there is sometimes a fine line between attempting to motivate a cache owner to make repairs through a "needs maintenance" log or through a "needs archived" log, and I am not being...
From the reviewer perspective, there are separate archive situations.
In the case of a property owner complaint, including private property, trespassing, complaints from the managers or stewards...
Please note that my fellow reviewer and former neighbor, erik88l-r, helped out with publishing a major number of the caches on Saturday as I was on the road much of day.
It really was an...
