OK, I finally heard back from Tess at Coins & Pins.
Here's the tentative design.

We can get a final wording changed easily. I just wanted to get a mockup of what the coin would look like, something we can vote on for the basic design.

I've sent the picture Rick did to Coins&Pins to see what the monochrome rendition would look like, waiting for Tess to send back the artwork. I'm hoping that this is still a realistic goal for 2006...

What are people thinking at this point? Do we want to go with something like this, or something else. I'd like to get a design (or several) to vote on soon so that we can get this ordered before Xmas.

I would think that an outline of the state would be the best for an icon (pick your favorite color fill-in, or symbol). It should be immediately recognizable as the Maine coin on a very small icon.

I like this picture. My only question is, if we do this one, do people want this side to have color on it? The smaller details (moose) might not translate well if it is monochrome metal.

Here's another suggestion that might transition well to a coin. I like the Katahdin image, my only hesitation is that the only two personal coins out this year both highlight it, I was hoping for...
