    Default Kayaking

I am looking for some - not offshore ocean - kayaking that Rick & I, "The Two Reprobates", can do to get to caches on islands, reachable by water only, or on or near the shore, reachable by either land or water. A day kayaking, with a find or two to log, is hard to beat!! Our area of concentration is Southern Maine & the New Hampshire Seacoast.

    Dear Dave,

These are a bit north for a day's trip. How do you search for them?

I would do a search for caches with a 5 rating as it takes special equipment to reach the cache and a canoe or kayak would be considered special equipment. At least that would be how I would go about it. Maybe some others have different thoughts as to how to do the search.

    Default How to Search?

I'm a premium member, but I have no clue as to how to search by Difficulty Level or Icon.

I don't think you can do a search by Difficulty Level without running a query can you?

That is correct, you have to run a pocket query and also even maybe a filter using GSAK.

Here is a quick GSAK filter I ran. This is a list of possible kayak caches within 60 miles of Portsmouth, NH. I haven’t looked at the descriptions of the caches, but the names imply that many may require a boat to reach.

    GCKM3Q Ca$h Cache 2.2 NE
    GCPHDB Lone Pine 10.4 N
GCJNVW Log Cabbin Isle 18.9 W
    GCGDN3 Bo's Island 26.1 NE
    GCV727 Beach Island Cache 31.2 S
    GCV71X Ipswich River Cache 31.8 S
    GCK8QX Raphus Cucullatus 31.8 W
    GC6CD5 Piscatequog Paddle 38.6 W
    GC70C2 of paddles and ropeswings 47 W
GCPQXW The Westford River 47.4 SW
    GCJJNE Stonedam Island 51.2 NW
    GC7910 A Berry Good Island 52.5 N
    GCH7VX Barnes Brook Cache 53.3 N

    Don't forget:
    Alison's Island Cache

This is just a few hundred feet from land and you could swim to it if you wanted to, but there are another 4 or more miles of little islands to explore.

    Well worth the trip!

Barnes Brook is not a kayak trip, but it sure is a great cache.
