The next version of the forum software that this web site uses is leaning towards letting users customize there own profile pages, giving them photo albums, friends listing and more. I have it it setup on a dummy site and have been playing with it. It is kind of nifty. However I don't know what all the hoopla is over having pages like MySpace. I have one but don't know what the big deal is over it.

It's all about personal responsibility. Use common sense. DON'T put really personal information on there. My rule of thumb is, don't put anything on there that someone couldn't otherwise find by googling you, or that you wouldn't tell a complete stranger. DON'T accept friends or posts if you don't know who they are or where they come from. And set your security setting appropriately. Personally, my privacy setting is at a maximum. I have to approve posts and friends, and only my friends can see my profile. To add me you need to know my name or email. This eliminates those stupid friend requests from porn stars, random bands, and others who randomly request to be friends with everyone. The security on MySpace is not as good as Facebook, I personally think. I can put more restrictions on Facebook, so that's why I use that one more often (just watch out for those extra applications which open your profile up).

Having a profile page like you're describing, Attroll, would be cool. I think such things create networking webs that strengthen a community. I don't know many people on here, but those I do know know others, and so I can understand relationships better and get to know those I don't know with some kind of structure and visualization. If any of that makes sense...

Honestly, I love the variations on my name; at least I'm assuming this a variation of my name and not some inside joke with Hollora...

I figured out how Facebook works: We need to be in the same network long enough for you to request to be my friend. I'm a part of the Bangor, ME network. Click Networks to add Bangor, ME and to search or people in Bangor, ME network. Under People, click Search, choose Bangor, ME network and type in my name Stephenie McGarvey. Then you can request to be my friend.

Starzz is having trouble finding me in the Bangor, ME network. I think I have my privacy settings too high, but how did you find me Cameo?
