Great story, and some of it sounds familiar!
I agree, HGTV is addictive, and like drugs, bad for you. It makes you think you are stronger, smarter and more talented than you really are.

Good story! (And we know how you feel. We're in the 15th year of modernizing our 150+ year old house. We're getting a GREAT dormer installed upstairs in what functions as the den/TV room. We were getting pine paneling put up on the ceiling, but the carpenter discovered that the roof beams were cracked and would come down in a heavy snowstorm! And since they had to tear the whole roof out anyway... LOL!)

Isn't being a homeowner fun? At least ours is paid for, and we're not trying to repair a home we have a mortgage on!

Hah! ya know I was thinkin this same question when I was driving back and forth to unity the other day!

but ya know J, what you should've done... was taken the corner stone of the house, remove the house from it... move the corner stone to a new location, and just put a new house on top of it...

Do you remember when Yahoo! first became big? and they had Yahoo! commercials? You remind me of one that I saw, it was of an inuet family, all sitting in a hottub watching a big screen TV, the guy gets out, tiptoes out into the snow to their huge BBQ grill to flip the steaks (they were living in an igloo....) heh, do you Yahoo!?

If you liked the heated toilet you'll love my next column which I've submitted (but it's not published yet) on my septic system woes . . . I won't say much about it except to say that eating greasy Chinese chicken fingers when you don't have a working toilet is not the smartest dietary choice . . . especially when at 4:30 a.m. you're driving all over Unity looking for a working toilet or outhouse!
