We knew it was going to happen, and now it has. Maine has over 2000 active caches. I am awaiting the data to update the stats page, will update later today.
That's a lot of caches - one for about every 12 square miles for the entire state! That's about a 2 mile radius...
Is 2000 a good thing or a bad thing? I think it's good, but I wished they were more dispersed. There are a lot of cacheworthy areas available here.
