Is there a way to search for archived caches on GC.com? I would like to see if there are any in my area.

There is no easy way to search for archived caches. But, I did it the hard way for the stats page.

The closest 5 archived caches to Machias are:

    Hobo's Companion (GCVT6G) by RubiconJW (2/1)
Fort Cache (GCP9M9) by TeamFoch (2/1)
UMM College Party Cache (GCJM6G) by Flasher410 (2/2)
TeamRossmith's First Cache (GCVWFG) by TeamRossmith (2/1.5)
TeamRossmith's Jonesboro Cache (GCVYHJ) by TeamRossmith (2/1)
    DNFTT! DNFTT! DNFTT!

I left it on just in case some interesting story might show up between the yard and the can crusher... ya never know...
Once the game is over, the king and the pawn go back in the same box.
