    I. First Official Geocaching Maine Newsletter
    -----------------------------------------------------------
--In an effort to further improve communication within the Geocaching Maine community, the Geocaching Maine Board has suggested the creation of a newsletter. The newsletter will include time sensitive information as well as other interesting news. Coupled with the geocaching forums, chat room, and geocaching events, the newsletter will aid in the spread of news to geocachers. Maine is home to some of the most active geocachers, and the Geocaching Maine Board wants to help get the word out about opportunities to become active in the Geocaching Maine community. The Geocaching Maine Newsletter will come monthly through the email in your Geocaching Maine Profile. To receive the newsletter, click on "UserCP" in the top menu of the web site at http://www.geocachingmaine.org, click on "Options" in the left menu, make sure "Allow Email from Administrators" is checked in the "Receive Email" section. Click on "Edit Email and Password" in the left menu, make sure your correct email address is entered in the "Edit Email Address (Optional)" section. Discussion is occurring at http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum/showthread.php?p=37054#post37054.

    What is a Geocoin?
--A geocoin, as described by Geocaching.com, is a metal object specially created by an individual or group. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, but are mostly 2 dimensional. Most geocoins are trackable, each carrying its own trackable code. These coins are easily discovered at geocaching events. They also travel cache to cache. You can officially log a coin by either “discovering” or “retrieving” it. To learn more, look at the geocoin section at http://www.geocaching.com/track/
