Default We've been away for a while

As some of you might know Tink and I have been away from the caching scene for a while now. We have attended events but have not actually been doing any real caching for almost two years now.

We are no perking up our interest in doing it again but since we have been away from it for so long I have forgotten how to do some things.

I have GSAK 7 and have some queries setup on GC but I have some questions about the queries.

Do you still have to limit your queries on GC to 500 per query or has that changed? Do I need to build several queries just like I use to to get the whole state of Maine? If I do could someone refresh me as to how to best do that?

    Default yep and yep

Yes, GC still limits us to 500 caches. You can do your PQ's by date(like I do) or by area. Doing it by area you may get overlap. Doing it by date is a trial and error thing. Start with the oldest cache in Maine date which is Jan 2,2001. Then you have to play with the dates from there so you don't go over 500. So if the end date on a query is June 30, 2006 then the next query would start at July 1,2006. The one thing you need to remember is to put the end date of your last one far enough out so you get new caches. Right now for instance my last query end date is set to Dec 31,2008. I will have to move it out as we get close to the end of the year. If you need more then just give me a call. I assume you still have my number.
    Happy Trails!

Thanks Brad. I remember it being like that I was just hoping it increased, O well.
So I need to start Jan 2, 2001 for my first search of 500 caches. Does anyone know what dates it should be to get all the increments of 500?

    Jan 02, 2001 to ??? ??, ????

You have to figure that out yourself because everyone has found more or less caches than the next person. Just do a preview before sending it that way you can play with the dates to get you as close to the 500 pq limit as possible.

    Rick,

To get all of the caches on PQ's it will take 6 PQ's now. I just adjusted my dates and I end up spreading it out across two days.

    01/01/01 - 06/10/05 - 491 caches
    06/11/05 - 06/16/06 - 494 caches
    06/17/06 - 12/10/60 - 491 caches
    12/11/06 - 07/21/07 - 494 caches
    07/22/07 - 03/31/08 - 495 caches
    04/01/08 - 12/31/09 - 79 caches

These dates and numbers were as of Saturday.

    Thanks Tom

The next question for you Tom is how do you run 6 queries? You are only allowed to run 5 queries a day. Do you spread it out over a few days?

That's fine to both of you guys but you have to remember that like I said in the earlier post not everyone has the same number of finds and your unfound caches will be different in each set of circumstances so the dates will be different according to the number of finds you have and unfound caches as well. The more finds you have then the less PQ's it will take to get them all for the whole state.

Also you have to remember that you can get your ALL FINDS PQ once each week.
