    Default Ticks question

When I was a young kid, I will not say my age. But it was over 30 years ago. I use to run around and roll in fields and play in the swamps and bogs. Without a shirt on top of that. I never saw a tick up until after I retired from the Navy and came back home. Where did they come from. What I mean is we never had them back then so why all of a sudden do we have so many?
