Donate now for tickets in a Geocoin Drawing!
--GPSFun, the long time reviewer for the state of Maine, has donated a brand new 2008 Volunteer Geocoin that will be featured in GeocachingMaine.org’s first ever membership drive drawing. Anyone can donate $1.50 for each ticket. If you are currently a donating member to GeocachingMaine.org, you are automatically entered two times! If you really want this priceless, historic, limited-edition coin, additional tickets are $1.50 each. Soon there will be a link on the homepage to donate for tickets. The drawing will be held at the Slipping into Summer event in July; you do not have to be present to win. The winning ticket will be drawn at random. If you have found a cache in Maine, most likely, it was published by GPSFun. To many, he is the father of Geocaching in New England. He has done so much to encourage Geocaching in Maine. Thank you GPSFun!

    What’s a Pathtag?
--What’s newer than a signature item and latest popular swag item since Geocoins? It’s the Pathtag! “WOOO HOOO our Pathtags are here!” chimes Team Richards. Pathtags are networking devises, as the Geocoin Club explains, in which you can see who you’ve “crossed paths” with. Pathtags are used in many circles, not just geocahcing. They’re not typically items to track, like Geocoins; though, there are Pathtag accessories to turn them into a trackables. Each owner is designated by a unique serial number, which is printed on the back of that owner’s Pathtags: many Pathtags, one number. That way, Pathtags are placed in many caches and given to whomever you chose, and other cachers log with the number assigned to the owner. Unlike Geocoins, where the Geocoin is the subject tracking mileage, this is like the owner is the subject, tracking who’s crossing paths. Each is about the size and weight of a quarter. Therefore, explains Kacky, “they are becoming a popular signature item.” They make great signature items because you get to make the design on the Pathtag, showing your own personality and defining characteristics. CacheMaine sums it up, “I cannot wait to trade with you all....very exciting!”

Thanks guys. Yes, Sudy, this was up for Board review two weeks ago, but I'll double check that I didn't accidently put geocahcing in my dictionary. Guess you guys will have to look closely at upcoming newsletters
