Default Oh, to Master the Route 2 Series

Okay, gang, I've made it to Bethel. The Route 2 caching trip was almost a bust, but fresh batteries took care of everything. I met a cool bicycler today that has biked from Oregon to Maine and now on to Vermont. He averages over 100 miles a day. I'm okay with 40-50.
I got the Ranger Station one of the series just now and will go to the border tomorrow.

    Default Gilead Conquered

Well, the rain is avoiding me. I left at 5:30 this morning from Bethel and had the Route 2 - State Line in my hands at 6:33. I did a couple more caches came back to the campsite, ate breakfast and packed. I only have 25 miles left to do today, so am taking my time, to get to Dixfield! The bike is packed and calling my name.

    Default Made it this far!

Bicycling is like hiking; the third day and your legs get under you. I'm really pleased with how things are going. My home made saddle bags (panniers) are holding out just great. Velcro and hair elastics are part of the design. I've figured out a way to attach my GPS to my bike so I can read it and the route has been friendly. Going between Gilead and Dixfield was really easy. Just follow the Androscoggin River as if flows to sea. The shoulders are nice and wide too. Today I had three really long hill climbs. I am glad they were in the morning! Coming into Farmington (I'm at the library) was really scarey. There's not a lot of room for bikes and four lanes of cars.
So far, the Route 2 series has been a success. I've found other caches too. Some are in desperate need of repair and I am not carrying anything to help. Route 2 - Lufkin School was a comedy of errors. Let's just say, it should have been a "park-at and grab" for me. I had to make it difficult.
Today I should finish the series. I may stay overnight in Skowhegan if I can't find a campsite in the Norridgewock area.
Well, back out to that wonderful weather (I've been really lucky).
