ATV Friendly Caches in Vassalboro
I had my ATV on the trailer for hunting season and decided to take a Sunday ride to Spectacle Pond in Vassalboro to grab some caches. You can park at the entrance to the road/ATV trail on the Church Hill Rd and ride to the pond. This area is managed by Inland Fisheries & Wildlife and ATVs are allowed on the road. Hunting is allowed too so be aware of this if you go in November. There are some side trails that are marked with NO ATV Signs. There are 5 caches on the road. If you have a 4WD vehicle with good clearance you can drive to the pond as well but the ATV is more fun!
The parking coordinates are listed in a couple of the cache descriptions including the first one: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...6-67e6501179e4
This is not a long ride but the pond is beautiful. The last waterhole just before the pond is pretty deep thanks to some beavers but I did make it through. Thanks to Katadin Goddess and Mapachi for putting out the caches!
The trouble with doing nothing is that it is hard to know when you're finished.
