We had a great time at the bash. The Allegany State Park is an astounding property, the event was a little bit unfocused due to the sheer enormity of the premises.

Many thanks to Northwoods Explorer for his recommendation of the Rock City earth cache in the area. We really enjoyed it despite the downpour we experienced while at GZ.

The Mega Event was our 1500th find, it is really hard to imagine how far west we were. When we returned we realized we were only an hour away from Ohio (a state we need). It never occurred to us to check out that possibilty prior to the trip.

The biggest highlight of the trip was getting see a black bear in the wild. We did see on the attendance map the last day we looked that someone from Warren, ME was there also, but we did not meet them.

All in all it was a great trip, a little too far to put on the every year to do list!

Wow, great pics. I sure hope it was a zoom lens though!

Yes Kendra it was! He was about 450 to 500 feet away. As we left a cache we were driving down the road toward the next when Bill spotted what looked like a big black mound under a tree. We looked closer and thought it might be a bear. Took awhile to turn around safely and get back to his area, he then looked us over as Bill snapped the shots.

Not really sure how big he was, but sure enjoyed him showing himself to us! As a city boy from Augusta and a flatlander in Portland, this was a first.

Interesting! I wonder which one of my neighbors were there.
