I. Are you enjoying the snow: Winter caching
-----------------------------------------------------------
For many, nothing will get them outside in the Maine cold and snow, but here are few ideas that just might get you out and about.
--Stay warm with Geocaching Events this winter! The Cabin Fever event was a big hit. Kaching Karen and tat put on the event in Camden Hills. Mainiac1957 says, “Had great food and great weather as usual.” The next winter event will be mostly inside. The Winslow Winter Weekend Waypoint Warrior Wingding 5 (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...b-f3e80b4d1cbd) will be held at Big G’s Deli. It’s a great event for getting a good meal and sharing geocaching stories!
--Whether or not events are for you, a caching challenge draws out some cachers. Who can resist accomplishing a Cache Challenge? The latest discussed challenge is Maine’s Alphanumeric: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...spx?wp=GC1JJ38. Several of our community have finished up this Challenge in the last two snowy months. The discussion is occurring here: http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum...ead.php?t=3578.
--For many, first caching itch is to get out and find some caches; the second is usually to hide one of your own. For cachers with a fun idea, this may be the itch to get them out in the snow. EMSDanel recently hid a winter cache, and started a topic for those trying to figure out how to get a winter cache out and prevent freezing of the cache. Contribute your ideas: http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum...ead.php?t=3687.

II. Podcache: Podcasts for geocachers
-----------------------------------------------------------
Podcasters tell us about the new podcast for the Northeast.
--Actually, the Granite State Geocachers Community Podcast has been active for some time, but podcaster Bass Chaz is recruiting others to make this a podcast for Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Ekidokai is one Maine cacher who’s looking forward to contributing, “I feel so blessed to have met so many interesting people in this adventure we call ‘Geocaching’. As soon as I can I want to go out and do some interviews with these most interesting people and find out what their stories are.” NativeMainer is also hoping to square some time away to chip in, “I purchased a microphone that plugs into my computer, and I plan on getting a portable digital recorder.” Caching from Bangor and Biddeford, respectively, Ekidokai and NativeMainer will have good geographic coverage for Maine.
--The Podcast can be obtained from: http://gsgcradio.com/, and is funded only with donations to the Granite State Geocachers Community which is at: www.granitestategeocachers.org. If you’re interested in contributing, being interviewed, or just finding out more, also check out the discussion at: http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum...?t=3418&page=3.
----Side Bar: What is a podcast?
------ Podcasts contain audio clips, including interviews, that are available to others by downloading or streaming them off the internet. For geocachers, it’s another way to get tips and stories about the sport we love!
