    I. GeocachingMaine.org’s New Board
    -----------------------------------------------------------
Every even year, GeocachingMaine.org considers whether to choose a new Advisory Board.
--This year the Geocaching Maine Community has chosen a new Board. The Board members elected for the next two years are, in alphabetical order: brdad, Kaching Karen, Medawisla, and Sudonim. The website manager, attroll, makes the fifth member of the Board.
--Feel free to contact the Board with questions or thoughts pertaining to GeocachingMaine.org by submitting a confidential thread at the “Feedback to Board Members” forum.

    II. The Social Side: Mega-Events
    -----------------------------------------------------------
    What’s bigger than a geocaching event? A mega-event!
--A Mega-Event has to have at least 500 regional, national, even international attendees. Geocaching.com explains, “To be considered a mega-event, the organizers must obtain prior approval from Groundspeak--not just from their volunteer cache reviewer.”
--GeoWoodstock VII is one mega-event to watch for: The first GeoWoodstock was in 2003 when 160+ geocachers attended. By 2007 the events had grown to thousands becoming mega-events! This year’s event will take over an entire town, literally! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache...c-534059d5b7bb. Maine geocachers are preparing the caching trip to Tennessee: http://www.geocachingmaine.org/forum...ead.php?t=3187. Mainiac1957 reminisces last year’s GeoWoodstock, “They had many different things to do from group caching to seminars to vendor tables. However,” and he warns, “if crowds are not your thing then a mega may not be for you.”

    Hey Lady....

Please know that we all really appreciate the outstanding work that you do putting out this newsletter. You do it voluntarily (at least I don't think anyone pays for ads) and it shows your dedication to the sport and to our group here in Maine. Kudos!!!

Thanks a lot! Yeah, I do it voluntarily...just the wrath of geocachers if I quit keeps me energized j/k Really, I love learning new things and sharing information. ...but if you want to advertise

Hey, podcachers! I'll be contacting you soon enough for the feature in Feb's newsletter...hoping to tell more people about your hard work!
"Given a chance, a child will bring the confusion of the world to the woods, wash it in the creek, turn it over to see what lives on the unseen side of that confusion." --Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods
