Default Governor Baldacci Promoting Geocaching as Tourism

Here's a link to the article in the Morning Sentinel.

Here's a link to the tourism web site, and one to the geocaching package. (I'm pretty sure those kids are at our "Got Moxie" cache!

    Cool!

You know what, I think that the State should promote this. It's a great draw and would help local stores. I really approve!!

Why can't we get a government sponsered tick eradication program?

And perfect timing! Just about when Maine is about to steal the title of micro capitol of the US!

All kidding aside, this could be a good thing, but I can see a cache tax coming.

Already happened! This is a tourism site. Didn't you read the articles about reducing taxes for Mainers and increasing the taxes on tourists?

Tourists, be darn, don't they think with the geographics of this state that we, the Natives, do stay in hotels and eat out???? Another little consideration on the side of Disasters.......what about the poor folks displaced by a flood of fire who don't have family and have to use a hotel??? Or a family member in the hospital far from home???

It used to be if the Red Cross paid for your stay because of a disaster or paid for goods, to replace what you lost, they did not pay Sales Tax. Not today! Even things purchased by the Red Cross, to replace what families lost in a disaster is taxable here at the going rate for the commodity!

brdad - I am with you - urghhh!!! But where are the increases on hunting and fishing licenses or stickers for boats and other Recreational conveyances??? Sell them at the damn toll booths or put up a kiosk!

    Default Speaking of "Got Moxie"

What a great cache location. When we left Oakland the wind was howling, it was raining and we were wondering. By the time we hit Solon it was warm, mosty sunny and a wonderfull day. The falls were really heavy due to all the rain lately. This would be a great way to promote tourism in this area. Now if I could only find that darned "Arnolds Landing" cache. I'm 0 for 2.

Just smile it won't crack your face

Heck, out of frustration I tried to throw one toward the river. I guess it wasn't the right one.
