Default Made a Maine DeLorme Challenge Macro - Anyone want it?

    Hi everyone!

I woke up at 6 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep so I decided to write a macro that would tell me which DeLorme map each of my found caches is in. Does something like this already exist? If not, let me know and I'll be happy to share it!

So far, the macro seems to work for all maps except 17, 27 and 67. I need to do a bit more tweaking to take care of those maps. Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with it. It helped me realize that I have completed one more map than I thought I had I haven't completed very many maps so it is possible there are still a few bugs I haven't worked out.

If anyone wants it, let me know what format you would prefer for the output and I'll set it up. Right now the format is pretty simple, below is an example of what it produces on my Found Caches DB. I'm thinking about maybe making it only give me the first found cache on each map in a pretty format that I can put on my gc.com profile.

I'm going out in a little while so I won't be around for a few hours. But, since my staycation ends today I'll try to finish up the macro later tonight! If I don't, I likely won't work on it for a while, lol.

If I'm not mistaken Brdad already had a macro for this. I used it to keep track of mine. All you had to do was place your found caches into the KML file and it would show up on the map of Google Earth of the Maine outline.

No, I never made a macro that had this output. However, I could place your finds on a map with the Delorme grid. My stats macro does a very similar list, however, except it only lists the grids which have 5 or less caches on them.

Edit: Actually, now that I think of it, Sabby created an excel spreadsheet that created a map grid. Perhaps you were thinking of that...

This looks like a nice macro in the works. I think it would be great to share it with the site when you have the glitches worked out of it.

I am impressed to see newer cachers like Ben and Tina contributing to the site and geocaching in general in this way.

I found this page at GSAK where there a macro for each state. Maybe this will help.

NICE!! I would really appreciate a copy. A .gsk file is ok as I too write lots of macros and like to look "into" others. I haven't tackled the DeLorme challenge but did write one for the AlphaNumeric challenge that I could swap.

Hi! So I've tweaked my macro and it works with all of the maps now. I am trying to come up with a cleaner way to handle those special case maps (they are maps that are not continuous) so I may update it soon.

I fooled around by running it on a DB with all Maine Caches and it will tell you which map each cache is in. I figure I can use this to plan caches on new maps.

Currently, if you run the macro it will give you an output like the one below. It's formatted for posting on here. However, if you look at the macro's code and comment out line 11 and uncomment either line 10 or 12 you can get a plain text or HTML format.

Also, if you uncomment line 45 you can restrict the macro to only give you one cache per map. Currently it will give you the first one found on that map. If you comment out line 44 and uncomment line 43 you can have it give you your cache with the highest difficulty/terrain for each map.

You can download the macro from http://benandtina.net/tina/geocachin...lormeMacro.gsk (you might need to right click on the link and click "Save" rather than just clicking on the link).

Let me know if anything is confusing or if there is anything I can do to make it better!!! Thanks!!
