    Default Scouts

A friend of mine is den leader for a troop of cub scouts. He wants to do a thing about geocaching with them and asked if I could help with that. If there was anything that you guys and gals feel should be brought up with the kids, what would it be?

I think this would be a good opportunity to talk about first aid, teach the technology aspect (maybe explain how the GPSr works) and maybe some crafts time to make sig items.

Compass work ties in well w/geocaching.......find some heavy tree cover. Projecting a waypoint is fun too.
    I'm just nuts about geocaching!!

I am not sure how much time he is going to spend on caching but I was kind of thinking of the CITO as well... Just talking about the positive impacts of caching but doing the basics before I get to much into the more complex. Once they like it they can take it further. My friend does not cache so maybe it will be a chance for him to learn it as well. Then he can really take it a lot further.

You may find this Cache to Eagle Series link interesting - http://www.geoscouting.com/cache2eagle.html

There are at least 2 caches at the Scout Camp in Eddington too.

That's a great suggestion - and they have a website with resources. I know when Hiram has had his event they sent him things.

Thank you all for the ideas. I will have to mention these all to my friend. It is his thing, but I will let you all know how it goes!

Don't forget the age old advice. Don't eat yellow snow.
I have no enemies, but I'm intensely disliked by my friends.
