    Default Beaches for collecting shells

Anyone know of a good beach (preferably southern Maine, but anywhere along the coast) where sea shells and sand dollars can be collected?

I have great luck at Popham Beach. I've also found tons of the dime sized sand dollars, and in one piece.
    I'm just nuts about geocaching!!

Old Orchard is another good place
The farmer gave permission to place the cache in the field, but the bull charges.

You'd have to travel, but New River Beach, just this side of St. John, New Brunswick is a great place to pick up sand dollars. And at this time of year, you'd have no competition! LOL!

Combine a geocaching trip with a beach combing trip! LOL!

We have had great luck finding sand dollars at Popham but you have to go at "peak" low tide and look out around the islands. Winter days are great because there are fewer people beach combing. We have found as many as 50 in a day and most larger than a quarter. We also bring the dog as they are allowed on the beach in the winter time. One of my favorite things to do
If you want to try cross country skiing, start with a small country

Looks like a ride up the coast to Popoham and Reid is in order on Sunday. Thanks!

I really like looking in Vermont.
I have no enemies, but I'm intensely disliked by my friends.
