    Default Contacting Rick

Thanks Dave. I would not expect Rick to take the time to respond to any personal encouragment any of us might offer but letting him know how many of us are watching his progress each day has to provide positive enforcement for his huge effort. I'm not sure if you can tell how many people visit this thread each day but I'm guessing it's considerable. I have a link to the Mt. Everest daily postings that I also follow the spring of each year.

I bet I'm not the only person wondering if I have what it would take to undertake the AT challenge. It's great he's sharing the experience with all of us!

    Go Rick, go!

I think he was planning to check in to the web site a few times if he had the chance, so you're best bet is to make any comments right here or via the guest book as 4ccnhikers suggested. I am sure he'll have fun reading when he does get the chance, even if it's after his trip.

    Default Excuse me?

I would have about a dozen Sherpas with me at all times. They'd bring just the basics one needs for a hike like this...plasma tv., satellite dish so I can watch Dancing with the Stars each night, Cuisanart coffee maker ( and a 2500 watt generator to help make good coffee, )and of course the obligatory ice maker to ensure proper preparation of martini's each night.

I think I can do this. I have a call in to Nepal to see what my Sherpa friends feel about skipping Everest this year and hiking in less severe places!

Sheesh! Guys - I'll be the first one to admit that I'm probably more likely than anyone to hijack a thread.

But this one is about a great effort by our webmaster, who has really done a lot of the Maine geocaching community.

Please - the least we can do to thank Rick is to let this thread alone - as a chronicle of his trip.

    Thanks.

The way I look at it is this, it's a once in a lifetime adventure so why rush it.
Just smile it won't crack your face

The statistics on sanity are that one out of every four persons is
suffering from some sort of mental illness. Think of your three best
friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.
